Arrived back in Singapore early this morning. We had 2 cabs drive us back to my grandmother's place. One taxi drove up the hill past the gates and he tried backing out. He at a weird angle and somehow... lost control and claimed his engine wasn't strong enough to get back up. So....it gave way.. and he smashed the left mirror. Eeee... poor guy. He was sucha nice cab driver too! lol =(.
Today my aunt and I went shopping. Hehe..yes more shopping. We went down to Marina Square and had chicken rice for lunch. I have a craving for KFC mashed potatoes. =P We walked the entire mall after that and got lotsa stuff. Yee Kor, Jo and I each got a Buff. Pretty trippy. It's like what those survivor contestants wear. Paid a visit to DP Architects and everyone seemed to know me =O. *Le Gasp* On Wednesday I think we have a dinner with Aunty Lana and all them people. So after shopping we had to meet at American Club for dinner. I'm stuffed now. Man this entire holiday we've been eating out and eating so so much. So bad!!!
Jo and I were dragged out of bed at 8 this morning. We were supposed to go to the temple but after washing up, I found out we weren't going. Well instead we went to the market with TK and YK. We drove around.. got a magazine... some nail polish.. nail art. It's sooo much cheaper here. We've been ripped off in Singapore lol.
We got back to pick my mom up and then headed for Uniko...calcium.....rock.... factory? My dad gave us a tour of the place then we headed to Jusco to get our hair coloured. I got copper highlights. You can't really see it in the photo. Hmm well there isn't much that shows. It'll probably be more noticeable under the sun.
We return to Singapore tomorrow evening. Another Grassland bus overnight. Time flies eh? Shopping, Sentosa, Phuket, Ipoh and it's almost time to go back! I miss home! There's the SFU tournament and Supernova Battle of the Bands happening today. =( Well all the best to badminton players and Morrowday. I shall be arriving in Vancouver Saturday, 5th August, at 11 in the morning. Kinda late. I thought it'd be earlier. But I guess not. The beach gets busy at 4 so I think I'll make it on time. Ah it's gonna be just like last year...but better!
-12:36am-
See that's what you get for giving Ah Mah all the red cards!
Went to this steamboat restaurant, Flame was it? Ah Gong was in the mood for steamboat. Not many of us were though. Tris, Colin, Jo and I shared a huge plate of crispy vegetarian noodles [It wasn't that great. The sauce tasted funny and the vegetables were sour. Or as Tristan said it tasted "hilarious"], egg fried rice and a plate of Kai Lan [An appetizer which came AFTER all our meals]. We were talking about Sphinxes.... and I said it was spelled with a Y but Colin and Tris said it was an I. Joey said it was neither. Sphnx. Then Colin kept repeating it over and over and ah it was hilarious. All of us went back to Housing Trust to chit chat. We had to lengthen our journey coz we figured with Ah Gong in the car they'd stop by to get ice cream or something so Colin went by Tristan's school. Joey went a lil coo coo. Tris had his ipod hooked up and the Banana Phone song was playing. XD.. Ring ring ring ring ring ring ring banana phone....... So yea all of us just chilled. We flipped through old photo albums and made fun of the way Yee Kor and Twa Kor dressed back then. Then Ah Mah wanted to play cards. So we played a couple rounds of Gin Rummy. Round #1 Winner: Ah Mah. Lol....All the red cards gave her luck.
I downloaded Crazy Frog! Ah hah! It's so trippy!!!! Bning ding ding ding ding ding..Bning ding ding ding ding ding ding
Tia Dalma: You know I require payment.
Jack Sparrow: I brought payment. Look.
*pulls out a gun* *bang!*
Jack Sparrow: An undead monkey! Top that!
Tia Dalma: The payment is fair...
So I finally watched Pirates. We went yesterday, my aunt, Colin, Tris and I. Colin came to pick us up and we had Kenny Rogers for lunch [that sounds so barbaric]. Ok I had a chicken caesar for lunch lol AT Kenny Rogers. The movie was awesome. Very very long and it leaves you hanging! But very funny at the same time. Now we have to wait another year before the 3rd one.
In 2002 Raintree Pictures came out with a movie, I Not Stupid [Xiao Hai Bu Ben]. It really makes Singaporeons become more aware of what the education system is like and the difference in lifestyles between a rich family and a poor family living in Singapore. I don't remember shedding a tear when I saw the first one. But man, it's 1 in the morning here and I just finished watching I Not Stupid Too [Xiao Hai Bu Ben II], my eyes are puffy, I have tissues by my side and my back is sore from lying here for 2 hours. That was a good movie. I don't think I've cried that much from watching a movie since...since... Titanic?! And I didn't even cry that much. It's so dramatic.. but at the same time.. so real. Everything that happened. None of it was made up at all.
In other news... lol... I just got a link from Britney. I think it's been circling around and probably all the provinces that had the New Grad Program has seen this link. GRAD PORTFOLIO NOT MANDATORYFOR GRADUATES OF 06/07?!. Government website so it's gotta be real... right?
In Vancouver, B.U.M equipment is found at Wal-mart, a department store with clothes thought to be cheaply made. Most "cool" teens prefer to buy the brands. I guess most of the time it's true that more expensive clothes are made of a better material, but you can find some nice stuff in there once in a while. Well here, in Ipoh Parade as well as Singapore, there are B.U.M stores all over and it's actually quite an expensive brand. I didn't get any by B.U.M but managed to find my Radioactive stuff. =). When I got my ear done at Far East, I couldn't find that store where I got my RCTV belt. Here in Ipoh, I didn't find the store where I got the RCTV hat. BUT they had everything [and more] at B.U.M City. I got me a bag, a Diesel long sleeved top, a visor [viser..visor], and a new pair of shades. Yeh, I know.. gotta stop with the bag buying. It was too pretty! It called to me! "Jaaaaaamie... you neeeed to buuuy meeee" I spent so much money in there. I think about 80 RM. But hey if you think about it. My shades were 20 but on sale so 15. The visor was about the same price. Converted to CAD it would be divided roughly by 3 which means that each cost me 5 bucks Canadian. So I'll try to tell myself, shop all you want now. When you go back to Canada you're not allowed to shop! I don't think that's possible. Hmm what else. I went to the "Reject Shop". It's kinda like Stitches. You got stuff that's extra, oversized, undersized, got some flaws, but sometimes you can find good stuff at good prices. Lotsa branded stuff too. So I found myself a nice blue/pink striped halter top and it was perfect. Since I got here I've been wanting to get halter tops but when we got to the check out counter, the lady says she can't sell it to me. Grrr... apparently it's new stock and they haven't inputted the code into the system yet. *grumble grumble grumble*. I could go back another day and hope it's still there. It was SO perfect! =(
Anyhoo, my aunt, mom and Joey went in there so I was outside with my dad waiting. Then the waiting got very very boring so I left my dad sitting on one of the benches with all our shopping [hehe] and walked down to see what else was on the other end. I walked into one of them very very colourful, punk... goth/preppy stores... Not that... that's my kinda thing *shifty eyes*. Yes I was suprised myself. The salesgirl was really really nice though. Every store I've stepped into this trip, I've had sales people following me around all over the place. Once you step into their store, it's like
"Hi Miss can I help you?"
"Hi what are you looking for?"
In Thailand,
"Where are you from?"
"I'll give you discount!"
"Come come, you can try"
In Ipoh, they follow you. I walked into a Nike store to look for shorts and the guy pretty much walked around the whole store with me until I left.
Anyways, so I walked into this very colourful store hoping to find some halter tops. Eh heh. The girl asks me what I'm looking for and I asked if she had any. She brings me to this rack and pulls out these super lacey ones. O dear god. Then she showed me somemore and I was like ok no no no it's ok thank you. I found this nice army shirt though and I got one of them black ties with a dead bunny logo embroidered on it. Woot Avril Lavigne? Hehe.. it's cool it's cool. I like it.. gots an orange bunny on it... cough.. dead bunny.
So that's the end of our shopping trip for today. Out of everything I got today, I think at least half was spent on presents. Now I'm not sure who I've missed. Plans are to finally watch POTC II tomorrow. Keeping my fingers crossed this time. =P
"Doik!" "Ah Toot!"
Jme's in Malaysia now! So as usual, we took one of those night buses and arrived early morning around 5ish. AND as usual we went out for Dim Sum [yea at 6 in the morning]. The rest of the day everyone just lazed around the house. For dinner we went out for noodles and to end it we had rounds of Gin Rummy and Slap Jack with Tris and Colin [Trilin]. All our hands were beet red after.
Today, my parents, Jo, Yee Kor and Tris went to Uncle Puat Koon's "Hairport" to get our hair done. Now Yee Kor and I look the same. =P Well it looks pretty good. Haha it better be...5 hours of sitting and 200 RM spent. I still think it's kinda flat. Now I can't tie it up!
Tomorrow I think we're gonna go watch Pirates of the Caribbean II. Cept Joey's not interested. =(
4 days seem a lot longer than what it would normally feel. Very strange since we've constantly been on the go. On Tuesday we met The Kohs at Changi Airport. Ah I love it there, free internet! =P. Talked to Troy for a bit before boarding. We had to swallow our lunch on the way to the boarding lounge, BK. Well, then they decided to serve us lunch on the plane. =P. Chicken stew...mmm.. so much better than JAL.
An hour and a half later, we arrived at Phuket Airport. We took a taxi.....van... erm... taxi-van to our hotel [Diamond Cottage]. It was waaaaay on the other end of Phuket island =S! It was a 50 minute drive there. Phuket's kinda like Ipoh. The streets are dirty...got a couple of really nice new malls scattered around the island... lotsa 7-Elevens. It was kinda an odd time to get out to do anything so we cooled off at the pool and then walked down the street for dinner. Found this cozy lil restaurant at another hotel. Was pretty good and the waitress was nice. After that we walked the streets, did some shopping. =D. Thus began the confusion with the conversion...=S..100 Baht=4SGD which is equal to.....?? Heh.. 100 just seems like sucha big number. My mom was pretty good at bargaining though. Or more like.. forcing it on the sales people.
"400 Baht"
"No....250 Baht"
"No no no.. 400."
"250!!!!! No 250!!!!!!!"
"Ok ok ok ok"
Woot!? I got a couple sarongs and a Paul Frank tee. Things are pretty strange there. They measure water by cubic centimeters. Hah and they have tsunami evacuation signs everywhere! There was actually a tsunami that occured in Java, Indonesia the day before we left. Along the way there was this lady with her, I think, pet baby elephant. She was selling bananas to tourists who wanted to take pictures with it. I suppose elephants are pretty cute.. but at the same time kinda scary coz they're so big.
"Here it's like......Baht."
Day 2, our tour guide, Gun [Yea his name was spelled that way] brought us around the island. We went up on a hill to see the different beaches, Karon and Kata. Took some pictures with these eagles then drove down to a couple markets... jewelry stores... this temple place, I forget the name....and this Elephant Camp where we did some elephant trekking. Ahh it's so wobbly! And the poor elephant had to go down a steep hill. From there we walked down to Monkey school! They had a monkey out front you could take pictures with. Dah he knows how to say "Sawadeeka"...Ok well he knows how to do the hand gesture. Inside there were baby monkeys and you could get bananas to feed them. Aww they were so adorable. Probably very dirty too.. but awww. They didn't want the bananas though. One of them really liked the plastic bag the bananas were in. He'd put it over his head and run around in circles. He loved Matt's camera bag and...Jane's head. XD. She had fun with a monkey sitting on her head. The show, it was alright. Monkeys are pretty darn smart. But at the same time you wonder if it's considered animal cruelty to make it do sit ups and push ups. Climbing trees and picking coconuts, yea that's alright, that's monkey stuff....but then... riding a miniature bike?
Later that night, a van came by to pick us up for FantaSea. It's this festival....carnival-like..place. There was a huge hall with loads of tables and chairs all lined up.. And yea... buffet style. There was so much food. =P. I've had so many buffets this holiday. Hehe. After dinner, we headed out to the fair. Well you could imagine what a fair would look like; games...stores...performers..etc.etc..We got us each a Phuket FantaSea t-shirt with an elephant on it. So on to the main attraction, the theatre. By 8:45 ish everyone made their way into this theatre. Cameras prohibited...Nuoooooo~! Yea they made everyone hand in their cameras and cellphones. Further inside there were lotsa elephants all dressed up and a baby tiger you could take pictures with. That was so cute!!!! Ah I wish I had the picture. I'll have to go home to scan it. The show was really good. It was kinda like... a combination of thai culture...cirque du soleil...and magic. The magic part was pretty crazy. They "sawed" this girl in half. Haha I'm still thinking about that one. O god there was this joke going around throughout the whole time we were in Phuket. So Uncle Roger goes...Yno you can see a lot of "Tai-Gurs" here. I was like Tigers?..For the longest time I kept repeating Tigers? Tigers? Tigers?..He finally says Ya! Thai Girls and Thai Boys. Matt goes Ahh hah..hah.... that was horrible... So one of the tricks was changing the guy that went in this box into a "Tiger". This lady dressed in a tiger striped dress appears. Oh...em...jee...lol.. But yes it was a pretty good performance. They had a lotta animals...elephants...tigers [yea a real one]..goats...chickens.. doves..very cool.
Day 3
"In Phuket, everyone eats bananas. The people, the elephants, the monkeys.....even the fish."
Went out island hopping with Jill, Jane and Matt. We went to..Khai.. something island. It was one of the closer ones I can't remember which one. All 3 start with Khai.. Khai.. noi?...yea something like that.. I wasn't gonna go at first. Don't really like the idea of being in the water with thousands of fish swimming around me. Yeeeeuch. Well.. I ended up going =P. We took a speedboat down to the island and yes... threw on some goggles and flippers...and we were off.. There's SOO much down there. Lotsa corals... fish...sea urchines.. big fish.. small fish... colourful fish.. scary looking spotted ones that keep staring at you! *shudders* We swam out pretty far. Matt was just going all over the place. Then he tried diving with his life jacket on. Didn't really work. Hehe. All of us were constantly taking our goggles off to let out all the water. Every few seconds the water gets in! Well I think we were out there for just over an hour. Out on the beach they had little hut like things with drinks and pineapple cookies.. oh and fruit. My dad ate the watermelon and he goes:
"Let's have a watermelon seed spitting contest!"
So Joey and I are thinking, ok... let's see how far you can spit the seed. My dad starts spitting the seeds at Joey. Lmao.. ah man.. So we only had about 2 hours on the island and it was time to head back. I think that was good enough.. a half day on the beach out in the sun with umbrellas you had to pay 150 Bahts to rent. It was also such a long ride back to the hotel. You'd think Phuket was a small island.. oh but it's not!
Our last day we just spent lazing around. Had a late breakfast then walked down to the beach. The waves are so strong! They had all the red flags up and there was a NO SWIMMING sign. But.. a lotta people decided that they'd take the risk and go out in those currents. My dad was running around the beach chasing crabs. Haha he caught a few.
...ain't no sunshine when she's gone...
We went to Bukit Timah Plaza this morning for our dental check up. My mom went in there first. Hoo man she comes out an HOUR later. Then I went in and it took only 15 minutes. My teeth are perfect apparently. =D.. No cavaties..nothing. Hehe.. so I decided to walk the mall while Joey went in. I got a sketch book and sat outside one of the restaurants. After everything, we walked to the bus stop and there was this old man. The same old man who would always go to Bukit Timah Plaza. He's still there!! He was wearing some weird thing on his head. I think it was a bent clothes hanger and he tied one of those bike reflectors to it. I guess people will see him in the dark XD
I heard it's been raining in BC. =P Sim said that after I left, it got really cold and rainy. Hehe.. awww. I bring the sunshine with me =).
So Sentosa was pretty fun. We got back today, after tons of walking, bus-riding, picture-taking, sun-burning.
Day #1
"Is that Mr Ong?"
"No that's Mr Ong's friend."
".....Oh..."
So Mr Ong's friend came to pick all of us [Me, Jo, my mom, dad, Aunty Kay, Uncle Tom, Sean, Ally and my grandmother] up in his big mercedes taxi van. It looked like a squished limo. lol. Took about 20 minutes to get to Sentosa Island. I love how Singapore's so small. =P. So the first thing we did was head down to the pool to cool off [@ least...I think that's what we did] We stayed at Shangrila. It's kinda like an arch and on the other side facing the sea, there's the pool with lotsa lotsa coconut trees. Further out there's a lagoon...man-made beach... clean sand lol. There aren't any creatures in the sand at all! It's so clean.
On our way down, Joey spotted something in the bushes. Eeechk....At first I thought it was a snake coz I only caught a glimpse of its tail. Then it moved! .....So that's why they have those signs.."Monitor Lizard Crossing". It was pretty darn big too. Well we got to see some wildlife... even in Singapore =P.
Later that day we were gonna go out to get dinner but the island's too big for walking. So they have these trippy orange buses that make rounds around the island. Everyone else seemed to know what buses to take. We just kinda stood there staring at the map for a while. We ended up walking down the beach. But it was an uber long walk coz my dad kept stopping us to take pictures. By the time we reached the food court, it was already dark. Jo and I had crispy noodles and frozen ribena. =P Good stuff. For dessert, mango-longan.Mmmm...Caught a bus back to the hotel and ahhh nice nice hotel. Air conditioning...room service.. The bathroom's so crazy! Yno how when you take a shower and the steam condenses on the mirror and you have to get a towel to wipe it or you can't see yourself... WELL... this mirror was magical! There was a clear rectangle in the middle of the mirror that doesn't fog up. Ah too cool.
Day #2
"Alarm Clock" went off at 7:30 in the morning. Joey and I have a connecting room next to my parents and Ally bunked with us. My dad came knocking on our door. Grrr no one else would get up so I had to. Then he played some song on his laptop that kept looping. We had to go down for breakfast. Mmmm buffet style. They had everything.. from eggs and pancakes to century egg porridge. Twas good. They waiters just kept all the plates of food filled. I wonder what they do with all the food that's not eaten. >=S.
Hmm... after that we headed down to Underwater World Sentosa. It's right by our hotel. They had these huge sea turtles at the entrance. Poor things.. confined in sucha small area. So this aquarium's underground. They had.. fish obviously.. sharks.. rays.. crabs.. eels...etc etc...There was one Dugong [Gracie]. She's so cute. There's a tunnel with a moving belt that basically goes around and around. I thought it'd be a lot bigger. The tunnel goes in a circle and that's it.
Had to kill some time before the Dolphin Show so we went back to the food court. I had the mango-longan again. It's basically snow [har har] with canned mango, those um..my mom says it's balsam seeds? and longan...Joey and Ally have been eating Soursop ever since we arrived. According to Joey, she's had 6 bowls already. Well the lady tricked me! She asked if I wanted "tadpoles" with the Soursop and I was like.. umm ok. And she charged me extra. Well I didn't know it was more expensive with the tadpoles [Don't worry they aren't real. Ahem.. they look like something else...*cough*..as you can see in the picture]
So after "lunch", we went for the dolphin show. Ah man it was so hot... I forgot to bring my shades out that day. Had to squint allll day. Not cool ><. My head was pounding by the end of the show. They have I think about 5 [or maybe more] pink dolphins in Sentosa. Apparently if you're out in Singapore waters or anywhere around there and if you're lucky enough you can see those dolphins. Joey and Ally got up close with them to take a picture.
Cooled off at the pool again. This time we rented kayaks and did some paddling in the lagoon. That was pretty fun but...my arms! They were gonna break. That night we went out for food and then rushed to the Cinemania theatre thingamajig. "Movies that move you" It's a simulator basically. I thought we were gonna watch an hour long movie. It took us forever to find the place. Aunty Kay had to run all the way to the ticket booth to catch the last show. We were late but they guy was nice enough to play us another one. But yea.. 10 minutes long.. 2 shows...or whatever you wanna call it. I've seen the first one at the discovery centre. You're in a jeep running away from these dinosaurs and there are helicopters above you trying to find and save you. That was a bumpy ride. Kinda hurts your back. Lol. The second one, you're in a bedroom on a toy track. You couldn't really feel it at first but as it got to the end, there was a huge drop. That was the only one that felt real. Lol I make it sound like it wasn't fun. So after 10 minutes of tubbling, we went to the fountain gardens and then watched the Fountain Show. That was cool. The dude said that some areas may get splashed with water, so Ally and I moved forward hehe. We didn't get any water! It was only along the sides! Instead, we got burned. They had fire blasting at the end. Now that was unexpected. *poof*? You could feel it and it was hawwht.
I slept like a baby that night. Joey and Ally went to the other room to play blackjack with Uncle Tom for peanuts.
Day #3
Woke up a little later this morning and headed down for breakfast. I wasn't feeling....normal.. Very weird..Ate... went back up to the room and I looked at my photos, watched The Fifth Element. I was left alone in the room.. Ahh peace and quiet. Everyone else went for a walk. Hehe well they came back with fries and nuggets for me so.. =D.
We've been on the go ever since we got here man. Came back for no more than half an hour and we were out again. We went to Queensway and I got a new pair of Teva sandals [my other ones died =(], a pair of nice brown converse shoes and a converse cap. =). Apparently I've spent "only 300 bucks" according to Joey. ONLY. Hah I loved how she said it. And that doesn't even include badminton gear! This place has all these sports stores. Lotsa shoes.. Singapore's so soccer crazy. Everywhere I go there's soccer stuff. Tons of jerseys.. tons of shoes... posters everywhere. So I saw lotsa badminton stuff. There was only one store in particular that carried all Yonex stuff but they were renovating and it only opens up next week. =( So...we'll be coming back. I saw a pair of nice court shoes =). They're orange! Hehehe. I think it's a decent price too. AND I haven't seen anyone wearing them. So after Queensway, Holland Village. My parents wanted to look at home decor. Hehe, whenever you bring Jme out, you're bound to spend money. I got a pair of earrings. They're zippers!! Don't have a picture just yet. We got dinner then slushies at 7 Eleven. So I'm in there with Joey and Ally. And there's this blue flavour. I didn't know what it was so I tried a little and it was pretty good so I filled my cup. After drinking for a while, I was like "Joey.... I taste something spicy" Ooo man I went back to the machine and it's called "Tear Factor". Then I realized that it HAD chilli in it. It tasted perfectly fine, but the after taste. Hoo man.. hot hot hot.. My throat was burning. Orange, Lime and CHILLI. Who woulda thought one would put chilli in a slushie. =S.

Did I mention I got my ear pierced again?
We leave for Sentosa Island in a couple hours. Aunty Kay and Uncle Tom are out some place getting groceries I think.
Yesterday, I went with my mom and Jo to Bukit Timah Plaza to make a dentist's appointment then we walked the mall. Got Pepper some stuff. And I got me a pair of "school shoes" from Bata. I would have a pair of Converse ones now but after going through a thousand different colours and finally deciding on a colour, they couldn't find my size. Grr. They were so perfect too. O well. So... after that we headed down to Takashimaya to shop. I got a metal iPod case. 39.95$SGD... hoo.. It's so cool. It's like got some limited edition design on it. After that... we went to yet another food fair. I think every mall has a food thing going on. Well I got gelato.. and this.. Prata Sausage thing. It's so weird.. they wrapped roti prata around a hot dog.. sprinkled some lettuce and squeezed on some mayo and voila. It was actually pretty good.
Met Jess and Brenda and Plaza Singapura later on and we went for dinner. Lol.. Food Court.... chicken rice..=P..Well then we walked and walked and it was exactly like what it was 2 years ago... Met at PS... walked outside.. walked down to Heeren... took pictures.. Cept this time we didn't take sticker photos.. we took pictures with our own cameras IN the photobooths. XD. Ah....why not eh? [I'll send you guys the pictures when I get back]
I'm at Kai Gong Gong's house right now. We're all here for dinner. Originally they were gonna order pizza. But apparently the place was way too packed...soooo... we got Chicken Rice! lol. And this stew thing.. it was pretty good. So yea now everyone's talking. My dad's showing Kay Gong Gong pictures of Pepper. =)
Ok so I gotta make this one quick. What did we do today? We.... were dragged out of bed at 7 in the morning and Aunty Kay's friends came to pick us up to get over to Pulau Ubin for bike trails. We got to the jetty, hopped on a bum boat and chugged out way to the island. Took about 10 minutes to get there. Once we were on the island, we rented the bikes and headed on route. Uncle.. Parkay? led the way. We saw lotsa durian trees, papaya trees, hmm what else.. I learned a new word... lol "Quarry"... Large body of water.. kinda like a lake... reservoir? Well we saw that quarry from all angles lol. It was uber uber uber hot! Hooo... We stopped for a drink partway but man those "cold drinks" weren't cold at all. Just as we were dropping off our bikes, it started to drizzle. And when it starts drizzling in Singapore, you run for shelter. Lol. It began to pour just as we got back to the boats. Ah I haven't wanted to stand out in the rain for ages. Felt good.
We went for lunch at the hawker centre. Mmm I had noooodles. Cha-siew had no fat.. veg was crisp.. won tons didn't have any seafood and....yes.. it was good.. I licked my plate clean. Ally, Jo jo and I shared a sour sop ice thingamajig after. Well we split from there. Joey and I followed Uncle Tom and Aunty Kay to Tampines Mall. Sean and Ally went with Aunty Cynthia and family. We were at the bus stop for the longest time. None of the cabs would stop for us! And all these people around us seemed to find ways to grab them before we did. God we were bad at hailing cabs. Well we got one eventually. So... yea we walked the mall.. up and down the escalators... weaving through the crowds of people. You're practically jammed between everyone. You move where the crowd moves. My feet were dead by the time we were done all the walking. Didn't even see anything interesting to buy. =P....So yea.. that was my day.. everyones leaving now.. I have good timing eh.. hehe..
[I typed this up a while ago so it may sound kinda weird and not up to date =S]
Day #1
We left for YVR airport at 11:30 Tuesday morning. Uncle Richard came to pick us up. I actually managed to sleep that night! I got up about an hour before we had to leave. Made some calls.. lazed around the house..chilled with Jo-jo. Then, the doorbell rings. What great friends I have eh? David came by to say goodbye and wish me a safe trip. The evening before, it was Jimmy.
The line up at the airport wasn't as long as when my mom left. We checked in, and went for BK [again coz my dad forgot to take the sandwiches he made. They were sitting on the kitchen counter]. Didn't really have to wait long once we were in the boarding lounge. There were a lot of Mexicans on that flight. Joey and I sat together at the back of the plane and my dad was 2 seats infront of us. Back seats are actually quite spacious. The edges don't touch the window so there's a lot of room. Hehe, there was this old japanese man sitting beside us in the centre aisle. He was so funny. I looked at him and he just started laughing at me. I have no idea why but he seemed friendly lol. I was watching him play video games. So cute~ Lol He'd look at his controller, push a button, look to the screen to see what happened and then back to the controller. Ah well I'm not gonna go through our entire, what..16 hours on the plane? There WAS the tea. Lol.. I had a craving for tea. No idea why. So Joey and I had to flag down the air stewardess. She'd be walking up the aisle with her kettle thingamajig. Then she'd stop even before getting to us and turn around! It took us forever to finally get her to come our direction. Well when I finally got my tea, I forgot to get the sugar so I got my dad to get me some. He went all the way into their kitchen! Lol. Ah so I got my tea, but there was so much turbulence that it was so hard to stir in the creams and sugars, let alone drink the tea [I have a video haha. "This is Joey and I making tea with LOTSA turbulence"]
So we arrived in Singapore at around midnight. Came home and went straight to bed. Yesterday we went out with Aunty Kay and Uncle Tom. Headed for Bras Basah; Popular Bookstore, Art Friend, BADMINTON stores! Popular bookstore is now 5 levels and it's all been renovated!Very very cool. Art Friend's still the same and I guess I'm more alert with the badminton stores now. I went into this one "Music and Sports" place. Kinda strange. On one side there's a buncha guitars and drums and on the other it's badminton rackets, shoes.. etc. The lady was pretty nice. I would have thought she'd be all paranoid and stuff that I had a backpack and I was gonna come accidentally knocking things off the shelves or something. I don't know, I just get that feeling whenever I walk into stores here. But yes she was very nice. She started talked and I told her what racket I had and everything. Then she explained all the strings to me and showed me the grips. Ah they have so many colours. I didn't know whether to go crazy and just get a whole lot of grips and stuff then or.. to wait til I go to other places. I got me 2 sets of BG-66 strings. One turquoise, just like Helen's and bright yellow. Was gonna get black but Uncle Tom said that it was too dull. Ah hah I spent so much money in one day. =P...I think about 50 bucks in popular bookstore alone. I got a Singapore Flag.. tee hee? Hm what else.. D'oh we had Chicken Rice! Lol First meal, chicken rice. I think I'll make my last meal chicken rice as well. =D
We walked Bugis Junction and I got a pair of pants from Samuel and Kevin. And I got a pimpin' bag from some bag store. Ah I love it. There were 2 bags that were so perfect. One of them was like a camera pouch sorta. But I ended up getting the bigger one. It's got a duffel bag cut but made with a canvas-y material. Very cool very cool. =P We had to meet my dad at Raffles City. Cept... I didn't know where it was and my mom was like a walking zombie, still in Canadian time. She, my sis and Ally sat at the bus stop to rest and I walked up the street asking people for directions. All of them looked at me like I was some weirdo. It's like they were all scared of me or something. After walking around like a fool for a bit, I finally got pointed in the right direction. My mom asked some school kids after where exactly the mall was and ah it was quite an interesting conversation. It's so interesting listening to the Singaporeon accent now.
Where's Raffles City?
Down there..you just take MRT velly easy wan...velly fast wan-ah.
Just straight?
Yah, just go there... MRT velly fast..2 minutes then there all-edee
Can I walk?
Yah can can can.
Ah too cool. Hehe.
Day #2
My grandmother gave me an international calling card. It's got about 8 bucks on it so I tried phoning Diane. The stupid phone lady keeps telling me her number isn't in service. So I tried a couple hundred times then tried calling Brandon instead. That number "wasn't in service" either so I gave up. My mom was out with Aunty Joanne and my dad was out computer shopping. Aunty Kay and Uncle Tom spent the night out at Marina Mandarin Hotel, so we had to babysit Ally and Sean. When my mom came home she told me that I had to add ANOTHER number! Ah I had to dial so many! First the card number then the pin then the code to dial out and THEN the actual phone number. Well I was only missing one number. Grr..So I got through to Diane and she said Pepper's quite happy. =D She was playing tug-of-war with him so he's gotta be. After that I phoned Beano and we talked for a bit. I think I have 3 bucks left on the card.
We went down to Marina Square to meet Aunty Kay and Uncle Tom then all of us headed to the Esplanade. We had to walk across a bridge IN THE SUN. Heh, the ice cream didn't really do much. =P. I had the usual mint, but it was UBER strong. It was kinda bitter too. Blech. So once we got across, we took one of those lil bum boats and went down the Singapore River. They had a little commentary thing going on. You would have thought that when you go under the bridges under the shade that the air would get cooler. But.. nope. lol..Not like Canada.
It was Uncle Roy's birthday and so we were all going out for dinner at American Club. So....=( we didn't eat lunch and had bread for tea. Bread talk has so many different kinds of bread. But it's like.. the same thing just in different shapes and sizes. You have sausage bits on one round bun and a square one and a rectangle one, but they all taste the same.
Day #3
Well.. that's all I have typed up for now. I got dial up and will be going out in a bit. Until next time! =D
...all my bags are packed I'm ready to go...
...i'm standing here outside your door...
...i hate to wake you up to say...goodbye...
Joey made plans to go watch Garfield with her friends today, so I decided since she'll be out, and there's room in the car I'd get Beano to go watch a movie with me. Original plan was to see Cars. But Jo wanted to be there so early we had so much time to kill so we ended up going for food. I got me some poutine from New York Fries. Beano kept telling me it was bad and would make me fat and kill me. Lol..He kept picking at the fries and cheese and at the same time going Ewwww faaaat. So I was like, Brandon if it's so fat then stop eating. And he goes.. Yea but I'm not gonna let you eat all of it. I don't want you to get fat and die...Awww~..So we walked around the mall then headed back to the theatre. We were still so early so we ended up watching Superman. Also good. Brandon Routh is so hot! Ah!!! And he's got his sexy little curl in the front haha. Yea well, it was a pretty good movie. We just walked the mall after. Went to the gym [there was drop in badminton! But NO ONE there! Wish I had my racket] and then the library then back to Guildford. Jim came by to say bye and wish me a good trip just before dinner. So I sat outside for a bit. We gots ta drop Pepper off at Deano's soon. Our flight's at 3 tomorrow I think which means we'll be leaving at.. 11:30ish. Ah a month.. so short a time to be there.. but such a long time to be away from here.
...so kiss me and smile for me...
...tell me that you'll wait for me...
...hold me like you'll never let me go...
...So where's Davie?...
...Um.. we're on Davie...
What a day. I had to get up earlier to clean the bathroom with Jo jo before heading out to English Bay with everyone. Brandon said he'd phone at 9 but the call came at 7:30! Well he ran over to my place allll the way from Bothwell. Crazy guy~! I was dressed up all Canada-y. Lol. Canada Eh shirt, red board shorts, canada jester's hat, what else. I had a bandanna but I think I had enough on me. Beano took my flag and he wore it around his neck. So we called him "Canada Man"! *yatta ta taahhhh!!* Diane gave him a theme song. We went to pick Diane up as well as drop some of Pepper's stuff at her place. Pepper's going to Korea soon! Lily, Krissy, Jensen, Jane, Clarence and Sandra were there already. Then Peter and Darren came up. We met David at Gateway and Sylvia took the next train [Sorry Sylvia!!!!!].
The plan was. Take skytrain from Surrey to Granvile, get off at Granville, take 6 Davie down to beach. That simple. But when we got off. The road looked like it was closed or something. I mean I stood right in the middle and there were no cars or buses coming. So we decided to walk. We walked.... and walked.. and walked.. and walked. Lol. Glad we had David around coz after a certain point I was completely lost. We were on the complete opposite side of Davie and Denman. Lol I'm like WHERE'S DENMAN!!? and this random guy next to me points it out. We walked somemore and we passed Tom Lee. It's like a magnet that attracts Brandon. He just walked straight in. Darren followed him and then Diane went in to drag them out lol. So we continued our "journey". It was a nice day out. Well next we passed 7 Eleven. This time it was Brandon and Peter. They got slushies and hot dogs. As we went along, there were all these bars that had the soccer game playing. We'd pass by and you hear people cheering. So we knew the scores just walking down that stretch of bars. After much walking, we finally arrived at the beach. Ah... stopped by Starbucks to use the bathroom! Then got us some drinks and found a nice spot on the beach. It wasn't crowded at all! It was nice. So we just slapped on sunscreen and laid there. Diane, Lily, Krissy and Sylv went down to the water for a bit. Jensen and "the gang" went to go find a tree to sit under lol. So I chilled with Peter, Darren and Brandon. Diane dragged me into the water with her. It was freezing!!!! Ahh! I don't remember it being that cold last year! She kept screaming at stuff in there! Omg Jellyfish!!!! *throws rocks at it*...Diane are you sure they're not broken up condoms....Ew?
We didn't really see Jensen, Jane, Clarence or Sandra much the entire day. They weren't prepared for just lying out on the beach and getting sandy so they disappeared for most of the day. I can't even remember what I did all day. I just laid on the towel alllll day. I had my tunes with me. O yea we got chips and stuff. And gummy bears! They turned all soft and melted from all the sun. Diane and them went in to the water again after and got completely wet. When she came out, she sat on Peter's dear blanky and left a butt print on it. XD Peter freaks out...Omg! Ew I don't wanna lie on Diane's butt! That's so scary!. I dragged Brandon into the water with me. He was so scared. The water was only knee high and he stood there with a scared expression on his face
Beano: I hate cold water!
Jme: Come here!
Beano: No! I don't wanna get my shorts wet!
Jme: If you don't come here I'll drag you in!
Beano: I'm stronger than you are!
Jme: Brandon!
I eventually managed to get him into the water. I was like hah you're in the water!. He still has the same miserable expression on his face, yea but my man parts are frozen. We were in there for a while. The water's so weird. Part of it's warm and part's really really cold. After a while, I got really cold so I'm like, ok Beano I'm freezing let's go.....................No!! I won't get out! The wind makes me cold! I'm just gonna sit here and not move! Hmmph!...Lmao... When we got out... I didn't think I'd make it in alive and I didn't think I'd make it out alive! He borrowed my comb after and his hairs even harder to brush than mine is!! I thought my hair was thick and coarse and grr.
Got us some hot dogs for lunch. And yea basically soaked up the sun all day. We didn't really have anything else to do. Beano had a soccer ball so he got Jensen and found these 3 asian guys who were soccer fans as well to play. They played 2 on 2. Lol Got all into it. The goalie dude was like hey guys calm down, it's just a game!! coz they were going all out. Those, I think, korean guys were playing bare footed too.
Our group just kinda disappeared for a bit. Diane, Sylvia, and them left without saying anything. I tried phoning them until I realized that their phones were in their bags! Why have a cell when no one can reach it?!?! Lol. So we waited.. They got their food so when we got back, Krissy and I went in search of dinner! The only thing we found was this japanese place so we took out some terriyaki thing. There was actually quite a lot. Rice, terriyaki chicken, tempura, cold salad.. I think I had a total of 3 cans of Canada Dry yesterday. Well when we got back, everyone was in the water again. Peter and David were still gone. Darren was just sitting on one of the logs. Lol it took so long for everyone to persuade him to take his shoes off and walk on the sand. Beano and I listened to music while I ate my dinner. The sun was setting by then.
There was a street performer behind us. I don't think he belongs to any company. Just does stuff like that for a living. He wasn't very good though. He kept talking and talking and talking. Balanced some chairs on his chin... juggled some balls and an apple. Juggled torches and burnt his fingers. Well there was one thing that was cool. He lit the other torches by hand. He cupped his hand over the flame and just kinda.. pushed it over. Ouch? The next performance was this "Canada Day Woman". It was kinda weird. She had 4 volunteers from the audience, all men. And she did like... ok they held up a cloth and she was in it taking her clothes off. Everything she wore was red and had some sort of Canadian symbol on it. Well she was taking it all off. Placed her bras and underwear all over those guys' heads. Then she got into her Wonderwoman outfit. Omg she had a whip! And it was so scary when she cracked it! I don't know how it had anything to do with Canada Day, apart from the costume. But she pulled out some jock strap and got some old korean guy from the audience and made him wear it. Doooo.....yooouu...speeeaak... eeengliiiish??? Where are yooou frooom??? Whaaat coouuntryyy?. Well he's probably gonna go home and tell his korean family that Canadians are very scary people who make you wear weird underwear on the outside of your pants. So she makes 3 of the guys lie down, kneel down and the other stand holding a red carpet. The last guy, Andy.... he was like "The Star". Lol.. She goes, "ok Andy.. I want you to relax... look up.. see that blue sky with all the birds. That's your future.. Now you're an animal... you're a peacock... now I want you do pull your shoulders back and say I AM MAN! HEAR ME ROAR!" She goes on with her other things and each time Andy turned around she'd be like "Focus on your future Andy!"... It was very very odd. And there were so many kids around too! She was like touching the guys in places you don't touch people! Well... at the end, the guy holding the red carpet pushes the roll down and she walks on top of them on their backs and climbs onto Andy's back and like makes him walk around with her on his shoulders. Then she got onto the other dude's arms and she juggled flaming torches. Had to try a couple times before she got it right though. Coz I think she was off balance. Well.... I don't know what to say about that performance lol. We dropped her a tip. Diane and Sylvia were going crazy over Andy. He was pretty hot. Haha.. He kinda looks like Ralph Fiennes.
The sun set was so pretty. Diane kept yelling at me. JAMIE! THE SUN!! THE SUN!!! It's setting! Take a picture! Quick!!.........oh look now the suns gone!Apparently, a couple drunks came by and laid on our mats. David was lying right there and he didn't know. Thankfully nothing happened and Brandon just told them to leave. We waited on the logs for the longest time. The sky was pretty dark by 10.
So 10:00:
Jme: Brandon where are the fireworks?
Brandon: 3 minutes
*10 minutes later*
Jme: Brandon... where are the fireworks?
Brandon: 2 minutes
Jme: You said that like an hour ago!
Well turned out there were no fireworks. I don't know why there were so many people there when there's no fireworks! Don't those people get out there every year on Canada Day?! Ah well, it was a fun day. By 11, we were on our way back up to Granville. There were lots of people out there. Scary thing, Brandon was pushing the flag out of his face and so his arm swung out. Just as he did, a black guy walks really fast about to pass him. So Brandon accidentally knocks this guy's shades off his face and I was so scared. He looked like he was about to beat Brandon up. O_O. K well all he said was, hey man you're not the only one walking these streets so you better watch it. And luckily for Brandon he's not the type to pick up fights. Omg but it was really scary. He felt so bad after. Kept telling me, what if his shades were expensive? What if I damaged them?!. Aww..So yea.. skytrain.. everyone was about to fall asleep. Everyone except for David. He was a bit looney on the train. Got a lil scary after a while lol but I was too tired. Ah it was an awesome day.
My mom left this morning and we leave the day after. Ahhh so fast!!! =] It's gonna be awesome.. 2 weeks in Singapore.. going to Phuket and Sentosa... Then Ipoh... then a couple days back in Singapore and I'll be back! I doubt I'll get the PNE job. The lady called yesterday apparently and second interviews are in July. =( And they said if I'm still interested and they still need people that they'd call me. But I don't think I'd be here. =T... Well there's another job gone. Guess I'll be free this summer again lol...Gonna do lotsa water-parking with Diane... lotsa movie watching with the gang.. Gasp.. we gotta start training for next badminton season!.. O yea and maybe get my drivers license heh. Crud and portfolio.
