Jo and I went to watch Meet the Robinsons today. It's really good. It's different. Or maybe I haven't seen any animated movies in a while. Can't wait for Ratatouille to come out. We watched the extended preview. Hmm what else is coming out. I wanna watch:
Harry Potter V
POTC III
Spider Man III
Ratatouille
My favourite show of all time. I don't think I've ever had one. Don't know why they stopped showing it on weekdays. Phooooie. =( It's BONNIE! Funniest show ever. Ahhh

Beano, posing. The wind was blowing and I was trying to get a picture of him with a fat tummy.
Well, the sun was shining. Has been shining. Sylvia, Alice, Diane and I went out by the garage to talk after school. It was nice and warm for once. It's uber cold in the morning then it heats up in the afternoon then gets uber cold again by evening.
Yea... I'm too lazy to type out what's been happening. Not much has been happening. Saw Alex when we went to Semi on ... Tuesday. Mm.. and most of the pictures are from today.
Corey and I finally got together and discussed the outline for this Substance Abuse video he wants to make for the... erm.. Surrey... Council...something... RCMP.. lol I don't remember. We just wrote down a few questions to ask people and went to look for permission from Mr Holland. He was so busy so we had to talk to Mr Emerson. He scares me. I don't like any of our vice principals. I like Holland though. He's the only nice one.
So anyhoo. We interviewed Mr Derbyshire then Mr Emerson. =S I've been fiddling with the white balance and exposure on the camera and I can't figure out how to fix it now. I keep clicking the buttons and even when I click auto white balance the colour's all weird. So I just left it. As long as I can see the faces of the people for now.
We played with sediments in Geology. I did the lab with Kristy and Janette and we made sucha huge mess. We were supposed to find the percentage of porosity in sediments and the rate water flows through it. I got everything set up and we did fine grain sand first. Well... we set up the lab and everything and began pouring the water into the funnel. Janette filled it to the top and it took too long so we changed the amount of water to record. We had to change the sediments but once I lifted the funnel up, the sand spilled everywhere. Looked like someone had a mad case of diarrhea or something. =S. Janette tried to help me but we ended up getting sand and water all over the table. O boy.
Beano's uncle brought us skating and bowling today. We got to North Surrey rec and there were already so many people there. The skates were ick and the padding was mushy and the heel dug into the back of my leg.
Corey and Camy took forever to get their skates on so B had to go help them. First he had to help Yoo Hwa then Corey and Cam and then after he helped me loosen my skates.
After that we went to KFC for lunch. B and I had the twister wraps and fries on the way to bowling. Mmm when we got there the guy said we didn't change the reservation times and he was being so stuck up and urg. Way to scare off your customers. Jeez. He gave us one lane at the side. O well. It was good. I've never ever been bowling before so. lmao. I kept stepping on the wrong foot and then Brandon would be behind laughing at my form. I beat Cam and Cor though!! And I got lotsa strikes. Yay!!! Hehehe... Brandon goes "She wobbles to the line then rolls the ball. It moves so slowly.. Takes 5 minutes to get to the pins. And then strikes." Tee hee. There was one ball with really tiny holes in it. My thumb got stuck and when I swung back, just before it switched directions, the ball drops out of my grip. BOOM. Hehe...whoopsies..
The Final Cut
Delea was in class early today. She had final cut open, headphones in her ears and her head on the desk. I said hi but she didn't hear me so I poked her. O em jee. Never poke anyone from behind when they're sleeping. God.. she jumped and screamed.
So we did the final cuts today. Tom added the transitions and we fixed the parking lot scene coz Mack said we need more info in it. I love it. We had to put in transitions and fix the colour. Then make the flashes when the camera shutter clicks. Josh looked for music. But in the end we went with the one I picked. I looked at the name when he asked me to pick a song and I was like ok that one. Lol and it was perfect. Eliana picked out the other one.
The day was pretty easy going. We did our editing. Ate. Watched stuff on Youtube. Mackenzie came in as a transvestite today. He had to do a demo reel for an audition. Lmao I watched it. O man. He did a play once and his character was a transvestite. It was quite disturbing. Cool but.. disturbing.
I learnt lotsa stuff on Final Cut Pro. Lol No one knows the short cuts cept me. But I learnt how to use more tools from some of the students there. It's way cool. We took lotsa pictures. Well.. the ones I took for the actual film were much nicer. It was much brighter.
Sunday with Beano. We had a teensy bit of sunshine. Barely. Then it went away.
Hot Dog day. Ai gave us all free lunch. =) Someone from the documentary film making program asked if they could interview me.
Mackenzie came in with his rockstar wig today. He looks just like MacGyver.
Tiring day of filming. First off, our group can't work togther. We have the script writer directing the whole thing. The director's holding the camera. The camera person's standing and watching. The set decorator is also an actor and they're too busy adding things, not knowing what to do when we're at the scene. Director doesn't know how to work the camera and hold it steady or control how fast the zoom goes. Ah. I'm gonna need more coffee tmr. @_@. Or else I'll die. I asked Kev if he had the same type of problem. "Oh yah!"
In a lab with about 15 computers. A class of about 12 people. Instructor's gone. He went to look for some movies for us to watch and he's been gone for about a half an hour or so now. He's this crazy actor who's been in tons of movies. Mackenzie Gray. Very very cool. He walks into the room wearing a black jacket, very smart looking. He's completely bald and has his shades on. Lol It's like.. this isn't class. And the first thing he says is. "We're going to have fun. We're going to swear. We're going to applaud if someone's late for class. And the code to go to the washroom is ten one hundred."
We walked across the street for lunch at IBM. It was drizzling and Mack goes "Do we need an umbrella?" Cept he called it something else. Brella? Broila? All of us looked at him, ".......but you have no hair..".
"Hey! It's VERY hard to up keep!"
Our lunch time conversation: Smoking, drugs, and sex.
Everyone has seen so many movies cept me. I gotta start kicking back every weekend watching movies. Like.. I stand with them people and they're going on and on about all these old movies I've heard of but never seen. So.. I told my parents I need to watch more movies. More old movies. Mack said to watch Amelie... Casablanca... etc.. and lots of Charlie Chaplin. He's a huge fan. My dad says... he has lots of old chinese movies. Yay.. we'll I'll be able to talk about my chinese movies then...
-David Grey
This year's love had better last
Heaven knows it's high time
I've been waiting on my own, too long
And when you hold me like you do
It feels so right
I start to forget how my heart gets torn
When that hurt gets thrown
Feeling like I can't go on
Turning circles when time again
It cuts like a knife oh yea
If you love me got to know, for sure
Cos it takes something more this time
Than sweet sweet lies
Before I open up my arms and fall
Losing all control of every dream inside my soul
And when you kiss me on that midnight street
Sweep me off my feet
Singin' ain't this life so sweet
This years love had better last
This years love had better last
So who's to worry if our hearts get torn
When that hurt gets thrown
Don't you know this life goes on
And won't you kiss me on that midnight street
Sweep me off my feet
Singin ain't this life so sweet
This years love had better last
This years love had better last
This years love had better last
This years love had better last
Film studies presentations. Out of the ordinary plots. Star Wars: Feat Ms Hazemi as Darth Vader.
We had one sunny day this entire week. Or maybe it was two...But the rain's back. It's gonna be a sad and gloomy Spring break. On Monday I'll have to train to Ai with Lily for our S.W.E.A.T program. Yay..
Mr Nguyen came by and sat with us at lunch again. He's so funny.
We watched "Chinatown" in Film today. It was...ugh. So...gross. And it was confusing. Beano got me a breaky sammich from Timmys so I ate that during the movie. *crinkle crinkle*. Mmm but so good.
B and I decided to go home for lunch. I watched AFV while he did his history homework. And after lunch, we continued The Merchant of Venice. Awwww it's so sad..=( You don't know whether to hate Shylock or to feel sorry for him. ={
I made a vow not to talk the entire practice so that I could focus. So I had my little doodle pad and I drew lips within a circle with a line through it and held it up to Sylvia. I can't remember who said it.. Hogen or Sylvia but I blurted out something. Something like "No I didn't!.................CRAP!" But I continued being silent.
...you think no one cares
Mr Milross's Geology Class Discussion of the Day
"Yea, whatever that Shit-doodle is," says Mr M. "....what IS it called.... Shitzu.. Poodle.."
Rachel goes, "It's a Shit Poo!"
Then Kristy comes in and says that it's a "Malti-poo"
Milross goes, "Yea not a single poo, a multi-poo."
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Right. So "just when you think no one cares..." -Brittany
I was at my locker after school waiting for Brandon (kid I tutor. Yea same name and initials as Beano). I was with BEANO and I hugged him. When he left for a while, Stacy and Brittany come up to me and go "OMG Jamie. I thought you were some other girl!!! I was gonna beat Brandon up!!!" Ah...it's happened twice already. First time, Stacy freaked out at Brandon then realized it was me with my hair cut. =P.
We continued watching Psycho today. O em jee. I thought scary stories back in the day weren't as scary as the ones in this era. But omg. The lady got killed! Ahhhh. I was so scared. And the music .. ahh omg.. Yes.. lol. It's all in black and white, can't see any wounds and all you see is blood.... which is black... *stab stab stab* Yeesh.
At lunch...I sat.. and watched Brandon do his homework. Then we went for a walk. And lunch was over. Lol. Wow..
Ms MacRae invited the Lit and Eng 12 classes to a "Learn about Shakespeare" session after school. She had some PBS video that's apparently really good. But I guess I wouldn't know. I went to play badminton after school. Early dismissal..Wewt. Beano wouldn't let me go.
"Beano.. I gotta play."
"Noooo you can't!"
"Ok...*hugs*"
"But Beano... I gotta play."
"......But I love you!"
We pwned again. This time against Lord Tweesmuir and Sullivan. Sylv went with Diane and I with Lily, just like grade 10. So yea.. no funny koreans laughing at smashes... But we have Hogen and Julian, our cheerleaders, cheering on Brian. They spelled his name. =D So while I'm putting the birdie back on the desk, Brian comes and introduces me to his friend, who also is going into film. Cept he's going to Capilano. Purtty sweet.
I think it's gonna be a good season. Ah.. this always happens. Just before the season beings, I think it'll be crappy. But...here we go again. =D Ha HAH don't I look like sucha samurai. When my hair gets longer, imma tie it like a "beano-samurai" again. Three pony tails. Tee hee, Jensen's hair's so funny. He looks like a shark head there. Then he messed it up and it became french fry hair.
It poured all weekend long. Today, the clouds went away for a while and the sun managed to come out for a couple hours. I sat and did nothing all lunch hour then went outside and sat in the sun for the last 8 minutes. I think maybe I'll go home at lunch time sometimes. 8 minutes to walk home, an hour at home and 8 minutes walk back. Mmm that's perfect.
For the first time, Peter tells me, he likes my hair. Lol. Yay! =D. I step into the gym during jr practice and he goes, "I like your hair. It's purtty." Lol "Awww you're purtty too!!!" I took a buncha pictures of Corey and Adam rallying in the hallway. We did a capture of many frames of Adam hitting the bird and Corey falling back and out the door.
Beano and I went to watch 300 today. The trailer looked so awesome. And well.. yes the movie was pretty awesome too. Just... there wasn't really.. a plot. It was just.. fighting. The high contrast is so crazy but yea.. basically they go to war against the Persians and that's it. (Brandon's busy reading up on it now.)
After the movie, we went to grab something to eat. Ugh it was raining out so we had to walk in the wetness..........B got us beef and potato burritos and we shared a plate of vanilla ice cream, strawberries and waffles. Mmmm. I picked up Mac Ds for dinner and yes.. here I am now. My parents went out for a friends birthday dinner and so.. Jo's busy doing SOMETHING... well she seems VERY busy.
Lily and I were given 5 hours yesterday from the second D block onwards until 6:30 to finish our video. We had to go to the first block of film studies to watch the play. Shoulda just skipped it. Most boring play ever. They re-did Shakespeare's Tame Thy Shrew. We sat through that first block then got started. Our topic, Social Responsibility. We had to do a video that had to do with stuff like... racism.. prejudice behavior.. bullying or stuff like littering and being good to the environment, minimizing our global footprint. Lily had the ideas running through her head already. She chose the global footprint one. So our entire 4 minute video was about a "Giant" or.. "Society" leaving its huge "footprint" or "mark" on the earth.
We went on and began writing down our ideas and started shooting in the second hour. Since the main character is a Giant, we needed someone with big shoes. Went to the drafting class to look for Adam. His shoes were perfect, old, brown, big. But he needed them lol. So I just got Brandon's soccer shoes. We tried to do part animation part regular filming. Since we didn't have someone to be the Giant, we made the shoes walk on their own. After filming some scenes in school, we went across to Nesters to get some pizza, brownies and chocolate then continued filming across where the bench is. I love that scene. It looks so pretty. It's so perfect. There's the bench, the phone in the back, some bushes on the side and you see blurs of people walking in and out of Nesters. Well.. I thought we had enough time to finish doing everything. Ick.. I planned on using Final Cut Pro but the footage wouldn't upload. So I had to settle with iMovie. And I'm glad I used that instead. Woulda taken me forever to do things on FC. Mr Nguyen even gave us an extra half hour and we STILL weren't done. At 6:30 we still had to add in frames as well as captions. Lily did all the written work and I put the sound and clips together and made it look cool. Ah I'm so proud of the bit where the "Giant" looks around all confused. He looks at the trees then the camera turns really fast and I connect the clips to look at some garbage on the ground. We learnt that Fraser Heights is pretty clean. It was hard finding very dirty spots. Well there was some garbage. Pop cans here and there.. Juice boxes. So we ended at 7 with a very plain video. Noog made me leave my laptop at school and let us continue today. It's perfect.
There's always lots of traffic out front of school when it hits 8 in the morning. Parents try to rush their kids to school so they won't be late and many are pretty inconsiderate. Well today's story...When I got into Geology this morning, everyone was crowded around the window. Some lady hit a girl. The late comers who had been watching the scene came in and said that the girl was crushed by her own mother. Lol... Jeez. Would make more sense if it were someone else. But her own mother!?! Later on in the day, I got more info..rumor or not I don't know. But basically, mom drops off daughter out front on 108th along the road. She gets out and walks behind. Mom has to back out as she doesn't have to turn anymore (I think) and (must have been fast enough) hits her daughter and rolls over her. People heard her scream. And as if that wasn't enough, mom decides to freak out and drive forward to "move away" from "whatever" she hit and rolls over her poor daughter again. In art, I found out it was the girl who sits next to me.
I love the blue-orange contrast. I have tons of bandannas. I dug this one out from my stash. Perfect blue
We're reading The Merchant of Venice in English now. I borrowed the DVD from Uncle SH hehehe.. So as we go along, I watch the movie and I know exactly what's going on. =P. At lunch I had to write the short story test I missed last week. Hopefully that will raise my mark.
Joyce is so funny. I think the only reason I enjoy going to Art is coz of her. She laughs at everything...especially Andy. Both of them put together. Today she took out her camera and snapped shots of everyone and giggled to herself. Yea I guess you'd have to be there. I have yet to start any of my art assignments. I have 10 of them due at the end of March. Eee..
I realize I haven't many pictures of my new hairstyle. But I took a shower tonight so my hair's a "poof" so...on with the toque. Tomorrow I shall have some calm hair
Practice was cancelled so Diane and I hung out. On the way up to my locker, Jeff and Scott come down and ask me to follow them. So I go:
"Jamie!"
"Hey... what's up?"
"Come with us!"
"Ok....why..."
"Coz.."
"Coz why.."
"We need a girl in our picture."
"What picture?"
"We need two guys and a girl."
"What for?"
"For Mr Milross's picture."
"What's it for?"
"For Geology."
"O....why?"
"We need a girl."
"I know.. but why."
"For Geology."
Lol... Geeeee. Mr Milross needed 2 guys and a girl to pose for a couple pictures. He's doing some presentation to get more funding for the science department I think. He wanted to make his presentation funny. So... Picture #1: Jeff stares at big igneous rock, Jme stares at a large quartz crystal, Scott stares at a yellow banana boat water bottle. Picture #2: Jme and Scott point to the large igneous rock while Jeff reaches over and points to the water bottle. Picture #3: Mr Milross holds a huge sedimentary rock over Jeff's head. Jeff looks confused while Jme and Scott grin and continue pointing at the igneous rock.
I've been thinking. Ever since grade 8, I've wanted to do something with Arts. From drawing to animation to photography to film. But there's this huge interest in Geology somewhere inside of me waiting to be discovered. But yea.. I don't know. I do love Geology though. We're going white water rafting with the other block sometime in May right before Grad. =D Gonna be rad.
Yesterday the All Stars played against teachers. Nick reffed and teachers creamed. The score was 0-5 for the longest time. Right until there was about 2 minutes left, Nick decides to call some fouls on the teachers. All Stars had a penalty shot and Mr Gill blocked it. So Nick gave the All Stars a point. And then I think Maion yelled at the ref and said it was a bad call. Then Nick pulled out the yellow card. Lol Partway through the game, Ms Brown, watching along the side, kicks the ball to the teachers side. Nick gives her a red card. She wasn't even playing. At the end the score turned out 2-5.
I don't know if I've mentioned. I probably have. This year we have 2 senior badminton teams. A and B. We had our first league play day yesterday. It still hasn't hit me that the season has started. It will soon. I haven't been playing properly for the past 2 weeks, but yesterday was pretty funny. FH and Clayton vs FVC and Elgin Park. Sylv and I played girls who prob haven't seen a racket since maybe 2 weeks ago. Then we played these korean girls who seem to find us smashing very very funny. They laughed at every shot. All 42 points we got, they laughed at. And when they weren't ready and we smashed, she'd go O_O and gasp.
We beat the 2 schools 11-0 11-0. And our B team beat Seaquam and North Delta 8-3 and 11-0. Woot.
So.. that's not all the members of the A team. Simon rushed through everything coz he had to go to the Canucks game. Sylv, Hoge and Jensen left early and Diane... she was somewhere.. lol. But yea I realized from last year's badminton slideshow that we didn't have very many group pictures. So I think this year I'm gonna get less "natural-don't-know-that-I'm-taking-pictures" shots and more "hey-let's-take-a-picture" shots.
And as the days go by, every step I take towards him will only push him away even more. Soon, he'll disappear.
...I'll just dis-a-ppear...
So the Reel 2 Real International Film Fest for Youth was quite good. It wasn't spectacular but the videos they showed us were cool. I sat in there thinking, these were done by youth? No way..They were too good to have been done by someone who hasn't even graduated yet. They had access to props and sets and all the crazy stuff. They had kids who could act perfectly. They had an ice cream truck! And costumes. They had a set that looked like it was set in the..20-30s. Well, later on I found out these were done by people who are slightly older than us. But yea. They have all the equipment and people and everything.
After watching the short films we had a workshop to go to. Andy, Sylv, Lily and I went to the Digital Film and Video one. My first impression was... O God...Why did we pick this one? 10 of us are escorted into this dusty old room in the community centre by a grumpy French guy with a very strong accent, Jean Paul. Ah hah. And there's a TV in the middle with a camera connected to it. The guy who did the talk was a skinny, geeky looking guy with very big fluffy curly messy hair. He introduced himself as Flick Harrison. And later on we find out that his name's not actually Flick and he changed it coz there were too many people with the name Pat. Lol well then. I'm gonna change my name! So he shows us a music video he did for his friends who go to Emily Carr and are in a band. I was waiting to see this amazing video with good music and pro special effects and all that. Well......first off, the video didn't even have the titles at the beginning, the music was horrible, the costumes were.. eeee, I didn't like the dark and neon lights. And well, the intro was good. They had a close up of a guy in an office talking to someone on the phone. Yea.. so... if anyone's interested, it's on Youtube and the song's by Canned Hamm with two Ms.
Flick showed us a camera trick so Lily, Jeff and I got up. We were gonna do a "magic trick". Jeff was the magician, I was the victim and Lily did the camera work. So Jeff goes "I'm gonna do a magic trick....hocus.. pocus." And I'm supposed to disappear. And well.. Lily cuts the camera and I get out of the frame, she shoots again and poof, I'm gone. After that, we were split into groups and given a camera to do a "magic trick" of our own. =( Too bad we didn't get to keep it. It was so cool. Andy was the magician and I was the victim, again. So he made me disappear and appear. He moved me up the stair case. Lol. It was pretty cool. Later on we just fooled around with the camera while everyone finished up their tricks.
We had lunch across the street at some sushi place. I got a smoothie from Jugo Juice and sat in there watching them eat their ocean food. When we got back, there were two workshops going on. In the theatre there was a documentary on India and outside there was animation. It was pretty cool. They did animation with paper, claymation and then with actual people. That was fun. Lily, Andy and I made pac woman with paper and made her go through a maze. We were running short on time so for the clay stuff each of us got to do about 5 frames and then we put everyone's ideas together and made it one video.
So yea, that was our entire day at school. 7:45am - 2:45pm. Strange, it went by so quickly. We got back to school and I said hi to Beano then Sylv and I were on our way to Southside Jr B. We went to pick up food and chilled at her place for a while. Lol we watched Oprah. Then picked up Mac Ds and headed for North Delta. Well.... when we get there, Barb tells us that doubles wasn't that day. Greaaat. We wasted so much time. Yarrrr. We sat there for 3 hours and watched the girls play singles. Mmmmm..
Saturday morning, David came to pick me up then he drove us to ND. We were juust on time and just as we got there we had to play. =|. First people we played were the #1 Seed, Helen and Carmen. Well we actually came pretty close, point wise. So I guess we loss 2 and won one? We lost to the Pinetree girl and her little partner. Well overall, I think we did well. I tried to block out everything at one point and just play. It worked. But yea...I'm tired of the constant picking on everyone's mistakes instead of being glad that at some point we tricked the other team and got a point or if we made a good shot. No one seems to remember those anymore. I made a lot of horrible shots yes, but I think I made some really good ones too and so did Sylvia. Our scores were very very close and even though we didn't win, we still have that many points which means we had that many good shots. The other team was just lucky that we made a few more mistakes than they did.
Dave drove us back to Sylvia's and we watched The Prestige. O man it was so good. It was kinda confusing at first. Then when I got it, it was like O em jeeee. After that we bussed to Guildford and met with Beano, Brian and Diane and hung out at Red's. Originally planned to play more badminton at the rec but there was some gymnastic thing going on. Ugh the weekend I can play, it's closed. Then I get blamed for something that I couldn't help not do. What am I not doing right? Yes, I'm holding a grudge. But I have good reason to. But hey, it's my life. We watched Zodiac and ick it's creepy.
A good end to a long day. B and I went to Mac Ds and had fries, a milkshake and 2 burgers. We chilled to Meteora on the way back and ah. =). On the way home, we hit a huge hole in the road. My dad was driving pretty fast and we didn't see it coming right til the very last second when it was too late. Lol. Hmmm Yea our tire popped so we were at the side of the road by PA fixing it. Some dude stops and asks if we're ok and goes off. 5 minutes later he comes back and parks his car behind ours and sits in the car. Creepy much? Then I thought: Zodiiiiiaaaaac!!!!
Beano's team got crushed in their last game. So he played for Matt when he got a red card.
English Short Story presentations. Playing the fly swapper game. 10 minutes into the presentation, the teacher helper from next door comes over and goes, "Are you guys............knocking? ....on the wall?......... Oh.. yea coz we're doing presentations next door."
The only thing that seems beautiful right now.
Work work work.
More snow?! I sat out in the sun today and just looked at the clouds. Sat there and took a breather.
I'm gonna enjoy my weekend coz I doubt next week's gonna be any fun. Well... things got better today. Mmm..Ok..some things are better. Other problems have risen. But yea.. stupid things.
Friday - Field Trip + Tournament
Saturday - Tournament
Sunday - Boarding if we don't have to play again
Monday - Tutoring + Babysitting
Tuesday - League game
Wednesday - Tutoring
Thursday - Tutoring
Friday - Due date for Skills Canada
The Skills Canada video challenge requires we stay in school to work on a video project. The duration of time given is 5 hours. In that time we have to plan, shoot and edit a short video. Great eh? The kid-I'm-tutoring's mom still hasn't written me the emails like she said she would. Jeezus. I gotta phone her again. But I don't know when I'll have the time. I guess during my games.
