Been a while since I've posted any of my drawings. I think I don't draw much but I doodle whenever I'm in class and it all starts accumulating.
I've been experimenting with oil painting. I've never done it in high school and always thought of it but never got to. So a couple weeks back I got a few canvas boards, cept they aren't really canvas. I'm not sure what they are but yea cheap stuffs for oil. =P Bno got me a huge 16" x 20" board so perhaps I'll paint him a picture. =P
I got an A on my Culprit video! Yay! Rob said I rocked the audio. I thought it was bad when the speakers started vibrating but yea. =D!!!!!!!
This is what happens when you have to make movies with a group of guys. You get to make a movie about suicide. Yay. Lol Chelsey and I sat and watched them. All of us crammed in a small apartment. The guys wanted blood. SooOOooo.. Ketchup and hot choco. Yeesh.
After the shoot, Chelse, James and I went to Metro to see if we could get any other shots. We got a hobo!!! lol
It seems that all the videos we've done so far are dark, scary, or sad. Even the fridge video was scary. Lol. It was meant to be funny! But.. yea.. it became scary. Or well I made it scary. We're doing German Expressionism in Film Studies so that's kinda sad and gloomy... in Visual Storytelling today we watched Sci-Fi movies but they were all pretty dark and make-you-feel-sad movies =(. Ugh and our teacher put on Planet Terror! Ugh!! Gross! Chelsey and I just couldn't believe he showed us that movie. Teach said it was filed under Sci-fi. Eesh.
Well I thought that was scary, the scaryier part of my day was walking to the bus stop. Just as I got out of class, I see lotsa lotsa crows. I know that everyday the crows come out around 5-6ish. That area used to be their mating ground and well I guess still is even after all the buildings went up. So I'm walking down the street and the sky is just painted black with all the crows flying over. Not kidding. Not just lots of birds. TONS LOTS BAZILLIONS of them. Imagine all the bird crap that would come down on your car! It's just like Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds I tried to take photos but I realized my battery was missing from my cam. So I used my cell and yea..didn't turn out properly. Maybe next time.
2 weeks more to go and first quarter is over! Doesn't seem like we've done very much in the past 9 weeks. 9 weeks, 9 classes of each course. In the next 2, I have a shooting assignment for Intro to Video (which we're doing on Saturday), a Soviet Montage to do for Film Studies (which we did yesterday - didn't have time to blog but it last night), a DVD menu to be burnt (which I still need to work on coz I don't like the one I did for the class assignment - it looks silly), and another video for Editing. Fun stuffs. According to Rob, this is the time where we don't get any sleep and come to school like zombies and sleep in any little corner we can find that's quiet in the school.
For some strange reason my hair decided it wanted to be straight. One week it was wacky. This week it's uber soft and straight.
Joey somehow finds all these strange things. This was pretty amusing.
Still not to happy with the end. But I think I fixed up lotsa things.
As each Christmas goes by, our presents slowly begin to decrease and in the past few years, Christmas hasn't really felt like Christmas. Perhaps because we're all growing older and it's just not as fascinating watching colourful lights and glitter balls be put up on a tree as it was as a kid. Christmas time movies and cartoons start to get old. And dinners just start to seem like monthly gatherings throughout the year. In fact, our family room is Christmas coloured all year round. SOMEHOW, this year... either I haven't been paying much attention to the decorations that go up around this time, or this year my parents went bazzurk.
I was too lazy to put all the pictures I took into a collage, but I think this one is pushing it. Lol. Computer cover!? Basically, wherever you go in our house, you'll find a snowman staring at you with it's beadly eyes. We not only have a big tree, but a little one as well. And Pepper obviously was not left out.
Troy showed me this one. I wanna make a music videooo.
Jimbo's cousin's band. A year ago (or maybe even more than that), they just had recordings of like... 3 songs. Now there's a music video!!
Making of.
Bno showed me this. I wonder if Animators go through the same visual story telling program as film students. I guess so eh?
Julie sent me this. Strange and very interesting video. Crazy cool!
And this one I saw earlier this year by Vancouver Film School.
This was done by an ex-school mate. We're thinking of doing something like this for our CC125 final project. Time for Jmerz to write a script!
"Here's a way to remember it...are you ready... ok...what is the frame rate of video tape?.... 29.97 *beeeeeeeping* frames per second..... there see now you remember it!' -Rob
Joey turned 13 yesterday! Lol I was home late so everyone waited for me to eat the choco-coffee marble cake my mom made for her. =P
It took us an hour and a half to plan out our story to shoot. Then another 3 hours to finish shooting. And 2 hours after that to capture and do a rough cut. Unfortunately footage is in school.
And Pepper had a lovely view from above.
Chelsey, Vincent and I shot our 3 minute short for editing. It took us about 4 and a half hours to get everything done.
Yay for Winter time mooobies!
The Golden Compass
The Water Horse
It's been about 5 and a half weeks..hmm 6 weeks? since I started school and we're supposed to be getting our midterm grades this week apparently. Thing is, in most of our classes except for maybe the technical-worky-with-equipment class in which we've done an assignment pretty much every week and have grades for, we've had no assignments to show where exactly we stand in class. Or well actually, pretty much everyone is doing exceptionally well coz it's been so easy so far. In Film Studies on Monday it was like, "Ok you guys I just wanna talk about your grades. I have no.... grades.. for you..."... Lol Coz we haven't DONE anything. Makes me wonder how we're going to squeeze 2 quizzes and 2 assignments into the last month which means 4 days of that class. Lol But yea, for doing nothing, I'm getting a A-, B+ average. And it's an A- coz the school likes to see improvement so there's still room to get up to an A+. *eye roll*.
As I mentioned, Cirque Du Soleil's coming to Vancouver!!! Yay!!! Corteo will be playing and I'm currently still thinking of whether or not to go and who will go with me. It's around 75-85 dollars for I guess regular seats. There are seats right up by the stage but at a strange angle I suppose which are cheaper. But I think the closer the better. Then I thought, what if I got the DVD. But nah, would be completely different on tv. I guess I haven't really asked many people. It's either Bno, Troy. Bno and Troy.. or me. Yay me. Gah!
So glad I'm not walking in that today. But unlike everyone in Vancouver, I have school!
Joey's been wanting pancakes for breakfast for a long time now. So parents decided to take us out to I.H.O.P this morning. Bno was invited. We picked him up and headed for Langley. By the time we got there it was already almost 10. Lol We had told Brandon to be ready by 9. He was probably ready hours before. We ended up being late =P. Anyhoo. We get there and the place is packed of white people. Everywhere. No asians. All the people working in kitchen were brown. There was one asian waiter. But that's it. Brandon steps in: "Wow. All white people. We're the only asians here! I feel so out of place!". Lol. "You're white you goof!".. "No I'm not! I'm korean! I'm AAAsian!"
Uncle SH and family came over last night. We had steamboat for dinner. The second DY comes in, there are 3 things on his mind:
- Where's Pepper?
- Where's the box? (Toybox)
- Where's Brandon Gor Gor?
The 3 essentials to having fun at our house. Lol. He found the Sesame Street camper van and quietly played with it on the kitchen floor. And then I guess he realized his playmate was missing! "Where's Brandon gor gor?" lol. I asked him who he was looking for and he said "I don't know!!!!" He went around to the other side of the room and opened the door and saw me "Ey!! You're not Brandon gor gor!!" So I asked where he was going as he headed for the bathroom. And I asked him, "Da-Yong where's Brandon gor gor?" He said, "Um.. in the closet!" And then..... he ran away..
I was at Reds today with Bno and he told me that my hair looked perfect. His exact words: "Omg you actually look good right now". I gave him the death stare. Right now?!?! lol I think in order for it to be perfectly spiked up, all of the hair has to be the same length. But aii maybe I'll just let it grow for now. My hair's actually quite soft. Maybe it'll listen to me if it's long now. =|

When Jo, Bno and I watched Ratatouille in theatres, this was the animated short that accompanied it. I love it.
So Beckham's in Vancouver tonight. The La Galaxies are playing Vancouver White Caps. Bno's at the game right now. He says it's packed and front row tickets would cost one about 200$. Hoooo.
Lol In other news, Cirque Du Soleil is coming to Vancouver next Summer!!!And I plan to get me some tickets!! Bno said he'd go with me, however, he can't promise that he will like it. Ah!
Those are Okshim's hands. We had a jolly ole' time playing with all the different mics. Okshim had fiddled around Chelsey's chest area trying to get the mic pinned to her coat and Paul mentioned the vibrations on our chest bone making our voices richer. And I guess Okshim thought of it differently. She told Chelsy (while fiddling with her shirt): "I will make your voice..more.. sexual." Chelsey found that the most hilarious thing ever and we were all dying of laughter. All the guys were wondering what on earth was so funny.
For our audio assignment, we had to take out 2 mics and just shoot in different locations. For one set, we were in the stairwell and I guess it seemed kinda spooky in there. Really tight.. really claustrophobic. So we ended up "interviewing" people. Basically you can do whatever you want as long as there is audio and we follow the steps. So Okshim tells me to ask her to tell me a scary story. WELL..."Camera rolling. Slate... Tell me a scary story"..
"One time....I stood in front of... mirror...and did...scissors..paper..rock........and I lost" *Long awkward silence*.....*Burst of laughter*.....You had to be there to find it the funniest thing ever. Ah my god. It's just coz she was SO serious.
For our last 3 shots, I got Vincent to answer a few questions.
-Do you like pickles?
-Do you think pickles like you?
-If you could name a pickle what would the name be?
Yea he was the best. I bussed to Metro with him and we talked about what's out there and how we decided to get into film. And I think both of us kinda got into film the same way: Not knowing what to do!! He said he tried Emily Carr as well.
Originally, the guys had planned for it to be a zombie movie (the guy who wrote it has loud screamy screamy scary music in his so I guess that's how he meant for it to be), but this is what happened lol. As a group we planned it out and shot it. Each of us were given the same footage and right now we're all gonna watch what we came up with.
I woke up this morning at what I thought was 10 (which is pretty early for me), but realized time had slowed down in the middle of the night and I forgot to turn my clock back an hour. So I was up at 9 in the morning which really was 10. I made my breakfast, watched Chasing Liberty and started on my Editing assignment. I worked on that all day.
I finished by around 3 and headed out to Fraser Woods to play soccer with Brandon. I haven't done any strenuous exercise since, badminton season ended! That's horrible!! Silly me, I thought I am still in shape like before. Nuuuoope. I thought I'd be able to run to Fraser Woods and feel great on the inside. Lol *cough cough* cold air in chest no good! Bno and I kicked the soccer ball around. He kept it away from me as usual and I had to try to get it. And I never do unless he messes up or if my foot's in the way. Or sometimes (today) if I decide to stick my arm out and smack him in the stomach. Oops! =S! Didn't really seem like we were there very long. It probably took us about half an hour to get to the field, played for half an hour and another half an hour to walk back home. By then he was feeling sick in all place; his knee was busted, stomach aching, head spinning. We wobbled our way to Nester's to pick up sick people junk food, gingerale and a cookies and cream bar then wobbled back home where we had hot peanut and pork porridge. Bno's never ever had that before. But he says he's never ever disliked any food that's been given to him at our place. Lol. In fact, he eats pretty much everything =P, unlike me who eats.. pretty much nothing.
Aunty Wendy and Uncle SH dropped by with DW and DY a little while after. Brandon was introduced to Da-Yong as "Brandon Gor Gor" and both of them were laughing and screaming...well...Bno was laughing... Da-Yong did lotsa screaming. Brandon's always been good with kids. He somehow always manages to make them laugh. They played with bubbles, cars, tops, umbrellas (mhmm), soccer. When Bno left, DY was still running around the house looking for him: "Ey! Where's Brandon Gor Gor!!!!!!!"
I thought I didn't have my crazy ink splat brushes anymore. Guess the new photoshop has em. I love em!!!
Bno and I went to Guildford to look for a present for Dustin. We walked and walked and ended up at Tom Lee and got him the Audio Technica pair that I have for school =P. Yea they're pretty snazzy. Bno was so excited he had to try them out lol. We went back to his place and he plugged it into his amp. Crazy coolness. Had A&W for lunch. Mmm 2 mozza burgers for 6 bucks, a root beer and onion rings. I was so full. Lol For pre-dinner, kimchi instant noodles and kimchi mmmm. It was goood.
This was us filming our zombie short. I have a feeling it ain't gonna be great. But we each get to make our own cuts so, we'll see what I can do.
Mr Derbyshire: *waves*
