Now: How to dance!
Alice celebrated her 18th birthday on Christmas day. Her, Julian, Jensen and Peter just got back from the states. They drove down to Oregon to shop. No tax! lol
I fried up some noodles (veggie bee-hoon) and Raf picked me up in the afternoon. It was SCHNOWING. Roads were uber icy.
This is the first time since.... I don't even know when that we've all hung out as a big group again. Very strange yet at the same time, it's like, give you that warm feeling.
We played Twister (again). =) Never get sick of that game. It's only fun if you play with friends though. (Coz they force you to stretch from one end of the mat to the other with your face squished to the ground, hands in awkward spots and with people's butts in your face lol. Fun stuff. Believe me, I know)
Unfortunately I didn't get any pictures of me playing on my camera. Or well I think Peter took a couple. But I shall go find some better ones. Alice has some good ones.
Faces planted to ground
Bodies tied in knots
Butts in the air
The night ended with karaokeing in the living room.
Peter put this up on tv on the night of Alice's birthday party. Hilarious. Korean guys do actually talk like that too. =P
It's snowing! On Christmas day! Our first 'White Christmas'. Lol Not that.. it's that special..
As always, we had our Christmas dinner on the eve. Bno helped my mom chop veggies and do the stuffing. Just like on Thanksgiving. =P.
We watched Finding Nemo while Jo and B played cards. By the end of the movie, we still had some time before everyone arrived. Lol By that time it felt like the night was already over. It was so dark outside.
Party started when people arrived at around 7. It was a happy Christmas this year. For some reason the past 2 years haven't really been much. Maybe it's just me. This year I felt the excitement lol. Just like when we were little.
When Uncle SH came, he had DY by his knees all shy as usual. He was wearing the cutest hat ever. I love how he's all dressed up. He was very overwhelmed with the crowd of people that surrounded him with "Awwwwws" and "So cuuuuuutes" and "Come here Da-Yong!!s". But when I opened up the closet of toys, his face lit up like a light bulb. "Car!!".
There was turkey and salad and mashed potatoes. Mmm. Yno', the usual. I think I'm slowly beginning to go off meat. Ham on the plate, it was just.. very gross. Ugh.
After dinner, we opened up Cranium. None of us knew the rules so for about half an hour we were just trying to figure things out. After played a round and a half, and everyone gave up. =|. We went on to play Taboo instead. I thought the Cranium was a lot more fun. But.. o well.
I was so eager to open up our presents this year for some reason. Yes, very very strange. 12 midnight and I'm the only one bouncing up and down opening presents. Joey got me coolio PJ bottoms!!! =)!!! I wanted checkered/plaid PJs. She got me pretty purply pink ones. They're bootyful!
So I couldn't stand it anymore. I had to watch Sweeney Todd. Diane and I went and I dragged Bno along. He said it was bad and I told him he didn't have to come. But he wanted to coz I was. He argued with me that it'd be a horrible movie. Didn't know he'd seen the play. We he warned me it was going to be Saw 4 with Johnny Depp. And well, he was right. I liked it though..apart from the blood and gore and slashing and disturbing things within the plot. lol. I liked the style and the singing. Anything with Johnny Depp is good! =D!
After that one we got into P.S I love you with Hilary Swank and Gerard Butler. Ahhh~!! Leonydus! (sp?) That was SO sad. O my goodness. I don't think I've cried that much in a movie since I watched 'I Not Stupid 2'. I think I cried every other scene. It was so so so very sad. O em jee. I couldn't hold anything back. By the end of I was just so exhausted. Lol I don't think Bno was too chipper after too. We were all just so out of it after so much material. First blood and gore, then sadness!!
Woot for JD! I love Tim Burton. He's the bestest. Sacha Baron Cohen had a part of this movie too =P. Maybe we can catch this and P.S I Love You!
See the round egg shaped thing on the ground in the 3rd picture. Yes, that is a person. As are those stick like things in the first 2
Last night I made some final adjustments to my Fashion Show DVD so I could give it to Noogie today. It was supposed to be done MONTHS ago. But yea. Never got to it. Hmm wow.. it has been a while. Since before grad. That's about...7 months! Well 6 and a half. But wow! lol Didn't occur to me that it's been that long. Well it's done! At long last!
I added the credits and names of all the sponsors and students. I forgot to put Bno's name in it!! =(! He was my photographer that night! And he did an awesome job too! The pictures turned out great. They were very pixelated but that's just my camera and it was very dark in there.
I left my computer to export the files and rested for a bit on my bed. Got up at 5 in the morning and realized I had fallen asleep. Burnt my disc this morning
Bno went up to Cypress with Dook and Dustin so I figured I'd chill at school. Walked out at around 12:30. Just as I was crossing the street, my phone rings and this girl is screaming down the phone at me: "JAMIEEEEEEE GO TO STARBUCKS!!! NOW!!!" I was like whoa dude calm down. Lol It was Waina. Ahh Waina. She's so cute. She and Willy were on their way to Starbucks where Diane and SYLVIA were chillin. So that was a lovely surprise Sylvia's back for zee holidays. All of us walked over to school (lol I guess I have to say Fraser Heights now since it's not my school anymore) for the christmas..um...show? event? It's the second one FH has done. And it's awesome! I love it. Things at school just keep getting better and better. I think the school spirit is back. Fabiano really did kill it when he came.
It was great. We got good seats right in front. The teachers did their silly dances and skits and carols. We oo-ed and ahh-ed. Felt like we were back in highschool again. Diane and Sylvia screamed at Mr Ahn. (Their obsession *eye roll*). Mr Huzyk played the Grinch as he did last year. Very very funny. It's hard to explain it in words. But fear not! I have it all on tape! =)! Mr Milross hosted it as he always does. Always great. I should probably put together last years as well as this years and hand it over to Mr Nguyen. Lol I told Milross I filmed it all and he sighed and went: "O jeez how much are you gonna charge me for that!!". Lol Kinda like who would have guessed Jamie would film this!! Aw.. I'm sad now. I miss high school!
I have a picture of Sylvia but it's in the other camera which I need the cable for.
Noogie said the parents want me to go back to work on the grad video coz they loved the one I did last year. Woot! If I have the time I'll probably drop by. Hoo hoo hoo. Lovely. I'm so excited. Can't wait for Christmas partays too! Break's finally becoming a happy time.
Mac Ds and Pizza for dinner. Ice cream and apple pie for dessert. Mmmm
After working and working and training, I finally got a day off to get out. Bno and I met Wesley on the bus and we headed down to Xcalibur to bowl!! Bno's friend Danila and her boyfriend Alan met us there a bit later. It's all you can bowl. Usually it goes for 3 hours but for some reason it closed really early. Last time we went it was all you can bowl 9 to 12. And I guess they have it from 6 to 9 as well. But yea. Strange. We ended up only bowling for 2 hours. It wasn't too great anyway. Lol we were all a bit off.
Caught the train and bus home. Transit in a way is convenient but at the same time... not!
Maybe it's just me. Since I didn't really have a job last year or school to get out to, there wasn't really a reason for me to be out at the mall with the Christmas crowd. I stopped by Metrotown after work the other day coz I was in need of a washroom. Lol But I ended up being drawn in to the stores. I found a nice jacket in Fairweather at a reasonable price and the right size but the zipper was missing (go figure). I also found a really nice vest at Stitches which I wanted in black. However they didn't have a size for me and I wasn't sure if I wanted to go for any other colour. I ended up getting a small for Joey. And since my mom was looking for a vest for her anyway, I thought I might as well get it. Lol I was so happy to bring it home though! Even though I can't really wear it!! (It feels so niiiiice! I will take a picture soon).
I get up in the morning to leave the house at 9:30 to get to work by 11 to work for 5 hours to get on bus and on the train to get home to earn me some monies. By the time I get home, it's dark and the air's cold and crisp. The sky was very pretty that night. I could paint a picture!
Beano just showed me this
Mac vs PC! In Japanese!!
Joey made Gingerbread TREE. My mom stuck the hands in the marsh mellow snowman. (Coz it was the only thing that would work)
And I made Teddy! It was supposed to be an Ugly Doll. But it just turned into an animal! Next one I make will be something strange that is hidden some place deep down in the back of my head.
(Something that has absolutely nothing to do with this entry. Lately I've been using brackets to put side notes into my sentences. And perhaps I'm just the type of person who doesn't like when people copy me or something? Deep down inside that's who I am? I had a dream.. nightmare.. whatever you want to call it. I dreamt that.. someone filled out an entire blog entry with those brakcets. After almost every sentence. Lol I felt the burn...in my sleep. Yea, just thought I'd share)
Well NOW my Winter break begins! In 10 minutes I will officially be on break. I haven't had a chance to just chill and relax and not worry about anything in ages! I'll be hoppin' on the bus to the mall and we're going bowling tonight! =)
Yesterday I went down to JJbean to learn how to make coffee. =) Barisa training. Too bad I don't get a coolio certificate like at Foodsafe. We learned from the expert. Angie is a national barista? I don't even know what to call her. Basically she's won awards making coffee.
In 3 and a half hours we learned how to use the espresso machine and how to clean it out. It took so long. Didn't seem like a lot of info was coming out of the session in those 3 hours. But at least I know how to make espresso shots and steam milk. And we were lucky enough to watch Angie make LatteArt. She made a leaf and a heart. So cute!!! We were all pretty amazed lol.
So I'm the only girl working at the cafe. Great eh? Me and the supervisor/manager. All the rest are guys. We have one korean, one italian, one japanese/chinese, one white guy. Then there's me.
I mentioned the crows down by Willingdon and Canada Way. You can't really see em great in photos. Best way to get the chill of being around that many is just standing there by the bus stop.
Coz I'm going to. Strawberry Fields. Nothing is real.
Garlic bread + Berry juice = Durian!
That's what I had for breakfast. My mouth tastes strange. =P
I got up this Saturday morning at 6 to get to school where I was to meet someone to get another ride downtown for a foodsafe course. The course costs 150$ for anyone to take and it looks good on your resume if you want to work in food service I suppose. It was pretty fun. The instructor was this dude on a wheelchair. I'm not sure what nationality he was. He looked philippino but his accent was something else... After words ending in -ing, he'd pronounce a -k after. I can't think of it right now.
Basically the school paid for 5 of us to go take this 150 dollar course. We sat for 8 hours locked up in a building listening to a guy talk about how we're dirty people. Which is true. It's kinda like.. all these things are common sense. You wash after you go pee. You wash after you touch something dirty. But I guess it just slips your mind sometimes when other things come into the picture. You forget that the world's quit the dirty place and people are quite gross. lol.
Brandon's always telling me to go wash my hands. He quivers at the germs that reside on the handle bars and poles and seats and windows and doors of the skytrains and buses. Probably a good thing.
This guy was very very amusing. He was very interesting to listen to. He pulled the whole -mean guy- thing. And the things he talked about you could definitely relate to. He takes the teaching to a personal level so it's not just theory theory boring read read reading.
We had 3 cars go there. Guy who drove me there, the manager, new dude and dude who's been working there for a while. The guy who sat next to me is such a geek. My god. He's sitting there asking me questions about what we learnt. Asking what the cooking temperature of food is. I said 74 degrees celsius. He asks what it is in Fahrenheit. I say 165. Then he goes "But how do you calculate that!" Lol Then he goes on and on with the numbers. @_@. Lol It's quite funny how he's so geeky. I told him he's like an encyclopedia. He's like the kind of person who acts like he knows it all. But ... he DOES know it all!
We had an hour and 15 minutes for lunch so I left the building and walked down West Broadway in the rain. Walked one round in Staples and then decided to cross the street where I found a BIG art store!!!! =D!!!! Loomis! My eyes lit up like candles when I walked in there. Lol. It was so colourful!!! =D!! Made me feel all happy. It definitely brightened up the day to be in there. There were soo many art supplies! Paint brushes everywhere. I don't know why I'm so excited about it. It's just like any other art store, expensive. But yea I was very happy. Haha. I could only afford the stuffs that were on sale. =P
Well.. it was a good day I suppose. Lol. Apart from having to get up early and having to join the christmas crowd on the way home and have hobos stare at me at the train station while waiting. The train had to make a sudden emergency stop too. Just as it took off the brakes were jammed on and people went flying. lol I love being out. So many things happen. Tomorrow I sleep!
Yno that feeling where you have TONS of things to do and you want to do. But at that very moment you just can't do all of them! Or when you really want to do something but it's just not possible at that moment in time? I'm feeling that RIGHT NOW!!! Here's my Winter Break list of things to do (In no particular order):
-Chill with the Bno-ster
-Go boarding (At least once)
-Work on Hogen's birthday video (his birthday was in April!)
-Fix Fashion Show DVD and videos (add credits and de-interlace videos. they look horrible without it done)
-Re-do badminton videos
-Grab baddy videos for Jensen
-RELAX!!!
-Fix up scrapbook (print more recent pictures)
-Boxing day shopping!
-Visit Noog to give him Fashion Show DVD (GASP - make DVD Slip cover)
-Start website with Troy
-Fix Jeremy video (that's the last one) - Make DVD slip cover & DVD menu!!
There's probably a lot more I wish to do... OH like paint a picture on that nice, huge piece of canvas Bno got for me. And there are 3 of them!! @_@
I was quite happy when I finished this. But now I'm kinda feeling meh about it. It doesn't make any sense. And I want to re-do it. But I can only fix it when I go back to school coz the school has a newer version of Final Cut and it won't let me convert it even when I export it to XML. Which STINKS! And I have no time! My goodness!
Lotsa people are done exams or finishing exams now. Brandon decided that we should have a movie day and invite a WHOLE bunch of people to come. He set up an invite on Facebook. I think about 23 people. Of which only 5 of us went. Actually 6 but we didn't find Troy until the end. We watched I Am Legend. Haw it was so sad. It was an everything movie. It was good. It was scary. It was suspenseful. It was sad. It was cute. It was happy. And it was sad. And scary. Lol. I guess I won't ruin it for anyone who hasn't seen it since it came out today. So it was me, Bno, Wesley, Simran and Fred. Sim picked us up and we headed to Empires. After that we chilled at Mac Ds then went to T&T (yea we're quite the strange bunch. I don't even go to T&T!!! But Brandon loves it there for some reason! He loves the night market too. Says he likes the feeling like being in Asia lol. Maybe I should bring him to Singpore. MAYBE then he won't really like it. Lol)
I was so freaked out after the movie I went over to Bno's until everyone came home (family went out for dinner). Yes, I'm officially scared of being in the dark. My mom said "O come on Pepper is at home". I was thinking. But the dog died!!!
Tomorrow I have a foodsafe course to take. =S Everything's stressing me out! There are so many things I have to do and there isn't ANY time to do it!! My mom wants to paint my room this holiday (who knows when I'll find the time), I have so many videos I want to re-do and vids to put up on the Tube. I have scrapbooking I want to do (which will allow me to de-stress) but I have no time! I have work to worry about now. According to a classmate, he says it's a slack job so I don't have to worry too much. But it's what I do! I worry! I never used to! I don't know why I do now!! I'm definitely not going to be relaxing this break. Which may not be so good for next quarter! =S!!! Anyway. Sleepy time! Will blog tomorrow if I find the time!
After being jobless for (how long has it been?)... 2 months..I've finally found a new job. I'll be starting today at the Ecafe downstairs in school. Pay is less than Superstore but if I work more hours I get a dollar extra which would in turn be more =P. However, I didn't count cost of transit to school on the days I don't have to go. BUT that would mean if I got my monthly pass next month, I would definitely put it to good use. We calculated that we'd be paying 50 cents more if we bought a pass. Lol.. So.. it all works out!
I think I'll go crazy if I don't watch this soon.
Hey Jude, don't be afraid
You were made to go out and get her
The minute you let her under your skin
Then you begin to make it better...
So tomorrow's the last day of my first quarter of film school. Have I learnt lots? Yea I have. I haven't made too many friends. I feel like everyone's already got their little cliques going on. Right now it's still kind of like, you talk to anyone and everyone which is good I suppose. Everyone's nice. All the students from other quarters seem kinda mean and immature and yea =S. I usually talk to Chelsey in all my classes except for Editing. I bus to school with Vincent when we get on at Metro and talk to him in Editing. He goes by the name "LaserBeamAutobot" but Rob calls him Adorable V. Lol It's so funny. I love that class.
I lost my firewire cable that connects my external drive to the computer. So over the weekend I borrowed my mom's. At school today I found another one. Doesn't look like mine. But it was lying around and it's black like mine. When Rob comes into class (Ok well I freaked out when I lost it so I emailed all the teachers who are in that class AND my academic director), he goes oh hey Jamie! *pulls out firewire cable* (It's silver) and hands it over to me. I'm like. Mine's black. And he gives it to me and says "Oh well I have like.... 20 of these just lying around at home.. and now.. I have 19.. so yea". lol so funny. He's so nice! And funny! I got an A on my last edit. The story still doesn't quite make sense so I have some things to fix. Might do that tomorrow. Will post the first cut on later.
I was cleaning my room (Actually still in the process of) and found a stack of photos from Photography 11. =D!!!! They look cool coz you can see the chemical burning the paper. Lol I guess that's what happens when you don't wash them long enough! The first set doesn't belong to me. But I believe I was the hand model. =P
Brandon decided that for Diane's belated birthday, he'd make her a tuna sandwich since she's always bugging him for his at school. We bought ingredients on the way home and when we got there, he got to work. Chopping shallots, toasting sour dough, mashing tuna with mayo. It was like an indoor picnic! I had toasted sour dough. And one mouthful of tuna - eeech -. Brandon made me it it. After that, B and I did the PILE of dishes that were in the sink. We forgot to do the dishes that he used though. But hey, it was a HUGE pile of dishes!
Rob had to go to a meeting during class so Mack came in for a while. He grabbed the models from along the hallway and put them on his desk. Wrote on the board:
Rule #1 in Editing: Get cheezies
Rule #2 in Editing: Start all projects at midnight
Rule #3 in Editing: Make sure all black frames are in your head
Rule #4 in Editing: Wobbly pops really help creativity
Funny.
On the way home on the train. The sun was shining brightly. It was so pretty in the skytrain. Everything was yellow and you could see the misty rain in the air. On the other side of the train. Rainbow!
I found a video of a Scottish Fold? I think that's what they're called. Or well, they're a breed of cat from Scotland. Their ears flop down so they look like they're always scared. So cute!!!
The amount of snow we got in the past 2 days was just as much as a whole week last year. I guess perhaps it hasn't hit me yet that it's already the 2nd of December. I feel like it's still Autumn. Maybe it's coz I've been wanting to get a pea coat in so long and haven't gotten one yet so I feel like Autumn is still here. I don't know if that makes much sense. Well the snow's up to just below my knees now.
I went to Brandon's house today to help his mom on a collage she wanted to make for her brother Steve who passed away recently due to cancer. I'm not too sure what the poster's for but she really wanted my help. I packed a box of coloured paper and crazy scissors and stickies and stuff thinking we'd do something with lots of paper around it and lots of words. Well... in the end.. we didn't use any colour. We used a couple letters for his name, a sheet of salmon coloured paper and 2 stickies. She wrote some words with my coloured gel pens and basically I arranged the pictures. We didn't cut anything up cept for some that she trimmed to fit... reason being that she didn't want to ruin the pictures which makes sense. She didn't want to use glue even. But we ended up putting a wee bit of glue on each one just so it would stick but I guess she can peel them off after. She loved it. Lol I was kinda like.. just not my kind of collage? Lol I think Brandon was kinda like.. that's just pictures stuck together on a board. O well. She was really happy about it.
We braved the snow once again as she drove me home. I love the snow!! It's so pretty! I wish I could just jump in it. I haven't had the energy or drive to put on my snow pants and tiny snow jacket and gloves and boots and toque and scarf to get out there though. Lol I wish I had a layer of fat around me so I didn't have to put on so much gear!!!!
Oh boy tmr's gonna be fun. Walking in that slush (The rains are coming!) to school.
My first go at directing. Eesh. Not very easy when you haven't slept all night and it decides to snow. At least our actor lives across the street and is an extremely good one as well. Jeremy came over and we shot our intro to video movie. I thought it would take us all day but we finished in about 4-5 hours.
Story's bout a guy who is late for school. Basically it's a huge sequence of him running around grabbing stuff and getting out of his house as quick as he can soon to discover that his clothes are missing. Why? We didn't know until Paul told us to find a reason why his clothes disappear. We had 2 different versions:
My idea: He doesn't do his laundry so his clothes are magically disappearing -coz he has no clothes- We had Julie yell "Jeremy go do your laundry or you won't have any clothes to wear!!". I thought we could just do a voice-over at some point in the video
Chelsey's idea: As a child he is laughed at and made fun of coz of his body so he's been scarred for life and very conscious of his body and the way he looks. Which is kind of funny coz Jeremy is like that. And I don't even know why he agreed to do it for us. Julie's brother really wanted to be in the video so at the end of our shoot I got him to sit on his bed and look at his hands and feet and out the window and yea it was perfect. Paul said shooting kids is very hard coz they have a really short attention span. But Duncan was DYING to be in our video.
Well I didn't have time to edit this weekend but Julie and I are gonna take a look at it on Tuesday.
Lily wanted to surprise Diane on her birthday as plans for a huge group party and sleepover were cancelled due to many people having plans already made. Diane figured her birthday party would have to be postponed to sometime mid December. I'm not sure if that disappointed her lol [Lately I haven't really been feeling much excitement for birthdays or any 'special' days for that matter. Lol I feel like the grinch!] Throughout the week, Lily, Krissy and I made plans to "surprise" her on the night of her birthday, which was on Friday. We had arranged for me to take her some place or have her over at my house after school to chill since "no one was going to be free on her birthday" and then send her home to find the house decorated and what not. Plans were ruined when we found out that she was going out for dinner and had to tutor until 8:30 that night (jeez). By mid week, I hadn't heard a word from Lily so I thought plans were off. I decided I'd invite the birthday girl over coz "no one was going to be free on her birthday". I told her that we could chill and she could stay over. After I told her that, Lily had other plans. *eye roll*. It was quite difficult arranging things without letting any secrets out. I guess Diane sort of fell for it. Lily was kinda hesitant on going over. And Diane had the idea that -if Lily couldn't go over, she'd come over to my place-. Lily had a cake ordered from Diane's favourite pastry shop, got balloons and sparkles. And guess what, Diane had to order her own cake. Lily and I both agreed that it's just too hard to surprise Diane on her birthday as she just LOVES to celebrate it herself, even if we don't plan anything for her!
Funny thing, conversations for this week seem to revolve around birthdays. On Monday Mackenzie talked bout how he thinks it's quite silly that people plan their own birthday parties. Lol He just celebrated his own last week. A guy in my class said he finds birthdays so weird. He doesn't know how to react when people wish him a happy birthday or give him presents. And I just realized this week that we celebrate coz I mean... we're here.. we're still alive and healthy I guess.
Anyhoo back to Diane's. Lily, Krissy and I hid in the dark after her mom went off to pick her up from tutoring. Jeez, her mom goes "Oh! I'll be 10 minutes later coz I'm going to Nesters to pick up coke!" As she left, I thought.. okay.... um.. What's Diane going to think about that? (Yea Diane was kinda like ... we can't finish 2 bottles of pop!) Just as Diane opened the door, she kinda stood there for a while looking at our shoes (OUR SHOES! We forgot out shoes at the door!). Lily flicks on the switch and "SURPRISE!". Yea.. so much for surprise. Diane was happy. So I guess that's all that matters. =P. We had chips N cheese cake and watched Thank You For Smoking.
Woke up to SNOW on the ground the next morning.
