[Jmowz sad]

How does one break out of the mindset: I don't feel very confident that what I do is good.

Everyone at school loves my work. I hate all the videos I do because I want to do better. And I probably can. I look at my photographs and I have numerous ideas in my head. Right now I'm finding it hard to stop thinking about what people say or what people think of me and what I can achieve. I really don't care what they think or feel or say. Coz I love what I do and I know what I want to do.

I want to change my header because it stinks. I want to make more videos and show how I feel through them. Show them how I see things through my eyes. When I get my camera, I'm gonna spend an entire day downtown alone. We'll see what I can capture in that one day.

[Death of a Camera]

So now Jamie is camera-less. I use my phone to take pictures and videos when I reaaaaally have to. I've been thinking about it for the longest time and I've decided that, I'm going to get me an SLR. It would be good for on set stuff as well. I got a friend who's working on a short film and I'll be helping him with the storyboarding and film stills. Right now I'm still thinking about what camera would be good. I figure eventually I will work until I have enough money to get a compact as well as SLR. I've learnt lots with the teeny compact cam. But yea.. I want an SLR. I like my photos. But I want them to look better.

I figure by the end of this year, I'll be able to afford a prosumer digital camera. 24p! Right now I'm set on the Panasonic that we use in school coz everyone at school tells me it's a good camera. Obviously there are better. But I can't afford it!

Hopefully by then I'll have more connections. Will be shooting the FH grad again this year.

[Ecafe funnies]

My supervisor is the mother of 3 sons I believe. And I guess as a mother of all boys, you learn how to control them since they're so different from girls. Less attentive, playful... etc... Ironically, I'm the only girl who works at the cafe so my supervisor has a -fun- time with all the guys.

I just find it funny the way she talks and bosses them around. Work at the cafe is chill as well as speedy as well as hectic. It's everything. The guys plug in their pods and blast crazy techno tunes. They laugh and joke about the weirdest things. They scream at their friends and swear all the time.

There was one week when we were catering for orientations and Kim had gotten a different creamer for that event. The creamers sat in the fridge in a big bag. It was around just before lunch time and the ladies from the Admin building came by and were waiting for their coffee and lunch. Kim pulls out the bag from the fridge and holds it up to one of the guys who stares blankly at the bag.

"Do NOT use this! It's for the catering! I will HURT you!"

The ladies jaws drop and they're just shocked at how Kim talks to us. But can't help not laugh. Kim's awesome. She's so funny. Work is like my second home.

[Mother Nature]

Jmerz: Hey Chelsey. Is it snowing lots over there?
Chelse: Yea Toni and I just woke up and she said everything's just covered
Jmerz: Yea it's still snowing lots here too. Are you going to school?
Chelse: I don't know.. there's so much snow you can't even tell that my car is a car. It's just this.. big.. giant..... snow ball.!

Photobucket

We had a huge dump of snow last night and it didn't stop until an hour or so ago. I got home about half an hour ago, 9:15 ish. I left the house at 7:10 as usual. I expected the bus to be late (and it was). The snow goes up to hmm.. there's about 7 to 10 inches of snow. It's been snowing so much lately that it's become so normal. It's like any other type of weather. If it rains, you wear boots and carry an umbrella to get wherever you need to. People joke about how in Vancouver people freak and entire cities shut down coz of the snow. In the past few years, it's usually been a 90% chance that my school would be closed if there's snow. For some reason, Fraser Heights is open today but everything else isn't.

Photobucket

I got on the bus and it slowly made its way to Surrey Central. Cole talked to me and said all the schools -everywhere- were closed including the private schools. Lol I asked where he was going and he said work in Burnaby but he got off at Esso and said he was gonna go get a donut and make himself happy first. Ah he's funny. When I got to the station it was still snowing and there were just TONS of people waiting on the platform. I waited 10 minutes before the first train came. That was packed. Didn't wanna squeeze in with everyone.

Photobucket

When I finally got on the train, I had called a buncha people. All of them weren't going to school and even my supervisor told me not to bother coming in for work. Ahh =). I stood on the train for a while. And eventually decided that I would turn back. I planned to get off at Columbia (which is the exchange) and man... there were soooooo many people there. Just.. ridiculous. People everywhere. The train was already jam packed and people thought they could make space by squishing. They're silly. The crowd's probably nothing compared to Singapore. But this amount of people crowding to get onto a skytrain in my experience only happens during the Fireworks in the Summer.

Photobucket

Well I managed to get off at some point and made my way back home. Now I'm sitting in my nice warm room =). Gonna go outside to shovel the driveway.

Oh yea, forgot to mention: My camera died today. D=!!!!! I dropped it as I reached out to shake Tony's hand on Sunday. The wrist band was around my hand but I reached forward and it jerked off. =S! The zoom was crushed. It worked alright for a day and I thought maybe it wasn't so bad. Last night it got jammed again and made crackily sounds when I turned it on. This afternoon my dad tried to fix it...the only way mankind does it: By smashing it on the ground to see if they can reverse the breakage. (It didn't work)

[Falling Stars]

People have metaphors and sayings for everything. Just last week my teacher was explaining that "Rule of Thumb" really came from England where men were allowed to beat their wives with sticks that were the diameter of their thumbs. No larger. This morning I read an email my aunt sent me and the exact story was in there. Coincidence! I think not!

Photobucket

Today while I was waiting at the bus stop. Little flakes (not even flakes. they were kinda just little white bumps. not as heavy as hail but not light like fluffy snow) fell from the sky and covered the ground like sand would. We walk around everyday, always on the go, always having somewhere to be and fast. People rush from place to place that we miss all the beauty around us.

Photobucket

When I looked at the ground, it was covered in stars and flowers. Each snow flake was the shape of either a star or a flower, some bigger some smaller. So cute!!! I've seen snowflakes like these before however not tons of them like today. Usually the ground's already covered in tons of snow so the only ones I get to see are those that land on my jacket.

[Surrey Central]

highrisesurreycentral.jpg Surrey Central or also known as the Whalley area is known for its hobos and druggies. A couple years ago, SFU Surrey was built there. They put up a huge high rise that people still marvel about. It's nothing compared to the buildings I've seen. But it is pretty nice.

At the end of last year, a new high rise was built. If I'm not wrong, there's 2 more to come. 3 apartment buildings. They look pretty nice. Apart from the hobos and crack addicts that wander the streets of Whalley I think it'd be quite convenient to live in one of those apartments. The sky train is right there. Grocery shopping is right there or near by. Future shop and Best buy are RIGHT there. Basically the mall and anything else is just a walk or bus ride away.

[Bike show at the Tradex in Abbotsford]

Woke up yesterday to lotsa snow. It's been snowing so much but a little at a time. The snow only lasts less than a day. Yesterday there were huge bits falling. It will be snowing today and tomorrow as well. O_O!

My parents went out for brunch with their friends so Jo and I were left at home. I cleaned out the hallway and my room until Siong Ee and Siong Chin came with lunch and to do their laundry. Shortly after I walked out to Timmy's where Brandon and Chris picked me up.

Photobucket Harley

We met Brandon's uncle in Langley and from there drove to a bike show at the Tradex in Abbotsford. It's basically an exhibit. Kinda like a trade show or market. All the big name brands bring their gear: Honda, Suzuki, Harley...etc...

Photobucket Chris and Brandon

Everywhere you looked there was shiney chrome. Each section had a different colour of bikes and you could sit on them, see how each ... felt.

Photobucket Chris

I brought my video camera along. Unfortunately I only had an hour battery life. I got about 29 minutes of footage so I'll see what I can do with that.

Photobucket Crazy skull design

I'm not a huge fan of racing and street bikes. But there were a couple for the road. I have no idea what they're called but the cruisers? Maybe that's what they're called. They were pretty nice.

Photobucket Brandon and Tony

There were guys showing off their tricks on the bikes and ATRS. The dude on the ATR did a wheelie but backwards. Didn't see where he was going and crashed into the dudes on the bikes. I think he broke one of them.

Photobucket Jmerz!

Photobucket Jmerz again!

Later on in the day we met Brandon's aunt and boyfriend. Her boyfriend owns his own store and built one of the bikes there.

Photobucket My favourite bike! =) The Suzukis and Harleys were the prettiest. And there were a few really old british bikes. I liked those ones too.

Photobucket

It still amazes me how many crows camp out by A.i every evening. By 5 the telephone wires are crammed with these black specks.

It's probably starting to get brighter as Winter passes. I finally managed to get decent shots of the birds.

[Da Yong plays in the snow]

dayongsnow.jpg Siong Chin, Siong Ee and DY came over the other day to do their laundry as their machine had broken. When I got up that morning, DY was already outside with my mom and Pepper playing in the snow.

We've been getting lots of snow here and there this year. It somehow feels different. I remember there being TONS of snow here last year. It lasted just over a week I believe. This year there isn't TONS of snow at one go but rather it's bits of snowfall here and there. It snows, freezes up at night and keeps the roads -all nice and icy- for days. Some of the snow hasn't even melted since the very first snowfall we had this year.

I walk out in the cold weather every day. I think my skin's starting to thicken. =O

Photobucket

This was the following night. Uncle Siong Heng and family brought dinner. I asked DY to make faces at the camera with me. =P

[Cloverfield]

On Saturday after class, I was asked to act in a co-worker's film. I was supposed to be a girl reading poetry to a teacher for their "Less is More" assignment. Lol He warned me it was a sexual poem...I think? I was all ready to do it but unfortunately they took too long setting up that I had to leave.

Photobucket

I bussed to Guildford and met Bno at Empires. Cloverfield came out on the 18th and just a couple days before, people were talking about it. Or well, apparently people have been talking about it since the summer and I'm just so out of this movie thing (which is bad!). I heard about it in Television/Internet Production. We were discussing the differences between Film and Television. And I think I've decided that I'd want to work in television. I'll save up and get my own gear and film events. =D! Lol Film weddings and make documentaries and what not. I think I've mentioned that Fraser Heights wants me back to work on the next grad video. ANYWAYS....

Photobucket

Cloverfield!...is a movie that was shot in the point of view of this guy holding a cam corder. It's like War of the Worlds but yes, in first person point of view (the entire time!). I thought it was pretty cool when the movie started (well I thought it was an awesome movie overall but we'll get to that). The story line was good, very simple, but good. And it really does make you feel like it could be you there in the movie. The only thing was half way through I started feeling sick. The guy sitting next to us was also feeling sick I bet. He kept getting up to leave. The camera's just extremely shaky all the way through. You don't really stay focused at one thing for very long. And when the monster first hit, one building was crushed and the debris was just swept down the streets (Just like 9/11!).

You don't really get to see the monster up until near the end which is good. The one thing they do show is these giant spiders and strange mites that fall off the big monster. Very gross! Eeeeck! Of all things, giant spiders.

Photobucket

At the end of the film, these 2 are left. They're the couple that begin the movie and they get split up right when the monster hits. So we're basically the people watching this tape that's been rolling the entire time up until the end.

[Bno loves Mom's Cooking]

Photobucket

I could have sworn Brandon's had my mom's curry puffs before however when he came over last week.... no, the week before that, he went crazy and swallowed I think about 3 puffs. Oh wait, maybe it was last week. =S So many things happen and the days go by so quickly I can't even remember anything. Well, a couple days later he decided to go get ingredients to make them for himself. =)

He got a recipe off the internet and go to work. I met up with him after school to help him. He had already done most of the work by that time so all I did was help wrap them up. I probably should watch my mom actually make them one day.

The entire time we're sitting there folding these things, Bno's just constantly whining about how his aren't like my mom's. He said they had to stand up on the tray so they looked like little stegosauruses. Lol So cute. And after a while, he decided to make his own shapes instead of the puff.

Photobucket

mommypuffs.jpgThey were in the oven for about 20 minutes and within 5 minutes, they were all gone! Food never disappears that quickly over at our house. Lol In fact, my mom was just complaining about how we never finish eating the things she makes. They always sit in the fridge and we forget it's in there unless someone decides to heat it up for everyone. Yea we're so lazy.

Well I wouldn't say that Brandon's puffs were bad. I thought they were quite yummy. Mommy obviously makes the best curry puffs BUT she's also had tons of practice. Here are the ones she made a week before. Steh-guh-saur-ruh-suhhh!!

Now that we have location audio in our pockets, it's added another huge bag to carry out when renting equipment. We now have the camera in its huge box, lighting if needed which comes in another huge metal kit, the LA (Location Audio) kit which may or not be huge. Along with that we also need a tripod and the ones we use are HUGE. Yeesh. O yes, as well as a boom pole and those come in 2 sizes as well. Well here's Vince booming while we did our very first assignment for LA.

[The people I work with]

Photobucket

On days when I'm washed up and tired and stressed out about everything (including working at the cafe), it's nice to go to work and hang out with these very strange people. They're quite frooty. Working at the cafe means, plugging in the iPod, grilling up some sammiches and burgers and laughing at the most random things. It's pretty fun, although at times I have no idea what they're going on about. But yea.. strange bunch.

Brandon also makes me think about all the germs I'm touching when I'm on the skytrain and bus. He gives me a dirty look and tells me to wash my hands =P. Always says I'm stinky too.

[Update on Shingles Episode]

The Valtrex pills are helping. The lump which I discovered is actually a Lymph Node which swells up with T cells to fight the virus is gradually going back to it's original size. The spots are healing as well however the past 2 nights have been brutal. The itch that has taken over my entire body has become a lot worse than before. In the past the itch would just bother me a little bit. Now it's unbearable. The strange thing is though that my skin looks perfectly normal. There are no blisters, no red spots, no pimples, nothing. You'd think I'm perfectly fine. It feels like a huge sun burn. My skin gets hot and there's a burning sensation like I've been out in the sun all day and the itch is from the burn. It's impossible not to scratch coz there's a HUGE itch when my clothes touch. It makes you go URRRRRRRRGGGRRGAAHHHHHH#$&!)($!&@#)!(&@#)!*$)(@(@$&Q!()$*!@$+&!($&#(&)(!@#*. Last night I felt like ripping the skin off of me. I'd much rather have a cough or cold where at least I can blow my nose or drink hot water to sooth it. NOTHING soothes this. We got some Calamine lotion and it just made it worse. I put cream all over my body after my shower and it just agitated it even more.

I couldn't sleep last night so I ended up crawling downstairs to watch some TV. Strange things are on late at night. Lol. I went back and forth between Nanny 911 and Porno Valley ( I think that's what it was called?) No it's not porn. Lol. It's the MAKING of! I watched Directors flee sets and illegally shoot sex scenes out in the forest and naken girls argue and get into cat fights. Joy~ At around 2, I started feeling tired and the itch had sort of calmed down. I turned the tv off and closed my eyes. Mind you I couldn't lie down coz Pepper had taken up half the sofa. When everything was dark inside, and quiet, I thought I could finally get some sleep. Then guess what... Pepper starts growling. URGHRHGHGAHGH@#$(&!)#@($@()#*!#. I smack him and turn the tv back on coz I figure he was seeing things that were outside but with the tv on you couldn't. He quietened down. Turned the tv off a second time and the growling came back. I was like UGH! Pepper! I'm going upstairs! I crept back up to my room and thought ah finally some peace, quiet and rest. Then.... the itch came back. =( I've never been this miserable in my entire life.

This morning, I zombied my way downstairs at 8 ish and read up on CDIS or something like that. Some strange.. immune system thing.. Ugh.. I'll do anything! Give me a shot. Give me horrible tasting medicine. Even Claritine doesn't work! =(!!!

[Jmowz Sickie]

valtrex.jpgA few months ago, I started getting a strange rash cept, it wasn't quite a rash coz my body would appear normal; no spots. I thought maybe my skin was just dry from the sun or from the air. So I just applied moisturizer. I found that after a couple weeks, the itch went away.

A couple months ago, the itch came back. This time it was worse. Still no spots and my body looks perfectly fine. It would only be itchy on my upper body, shoulders especially. It started spreading down to my legs and just earlier this week, my entire upper body down to my waist became very very sensitive. Just my clothes brushing against the skin made it hurt like bruises all over. Sometime mid week, I found that the pain and travelled down to my lower body. 2 nights ago, the right side of my body where the thigh begins started throbbing. I couldn't figure out what was going on. Last night I found a small lump right at the joint. I got worried, my mom got worried. The entire night, it kept throbbing. Feels just like a bruise. But on the surface, you can't see a thing.

I went to see the doctor this morning. I haven't been to the doctor in 6 years. And the last time I went was because I had a really bad cough. Lol I've never been this nervous to see a doctor although I do remember as a kid being extremely afraid of them.

Since it's a Sunday, they had some -Sunday Doctor-. Dr Tadros? I don't even remember his name. The nurse made me wait in the room and my heart pumped faster and faster as my eyes travelled around the room looking at the extremely disturbing posters of the insides of people. Right smack in front of me was a poster of well a person and it was describing Shingles. To me every strange word for a certain sickness is frightening and I guess it should be. But yea. Doc comes in and I explain to him what's been going on and he asks me a bunch of questions. He's this very nerdy little man with glasses that magnify his eyes. Ah very cute. I'm not sure what nationality he is but he had an extremely heavy accent. I could barely make out the words. He pressed on my stomach and I told him about the lump.

It was just like a movie. I don't know. One of those strange moments. *Drum roll*...... *Pause*.....*Music becomes increasingly dramatic*.... "You have Shingles" Followed by another pause. Should I be scared? Is that bad? Am I going to die? Should I have come see you earlier? He looked very calm and happy. So I figured it couldn't be too bad. And the word Shingles sounds so happy. Almost... too happy that it sounds uber bad.

So the Chicken Pox virus that has been lying dormant just beneath my skin has decided to erupt once again and I am now experiencing the sequel to Chicken Pox: Shingles. When I came home and told my dad, he said "Aren't those the things on our roof". Lol It wasn't very funny when the bill for the medication came out to almost 200 bucks though. We stood at the counter and stared at the pharmacist in shock for at least 10 seconds. Medication costs that much!?!?!?!?

I haven't done too much reading about it yet. I've been trying to figure out if I did have this... disease =S back when I first started itching and whether it's extremely bad that I waited this long to see a doctor. We figure it's just I haven't been taking good care of my body and my immune system is just really weak. I remember having an awesome immune system! I could fight anything!! Well, now I have to eat 6 blue pills a day and shield myself from all the germy germ infested people that walk share the air and streets with me.

Also, when Joey found out that she could get Chicken Pox from me, she shrieked and has been avoiding contact. I'm actually not too sure if she can get it from me. Coz I have Shingles, not Chicken Pox.

[Boo Berry Pie]

Photobucket

2 apples sat in the fruit basket looking very miserable so my mom decided she'd make a pie out of them. She placed them by the sink in the morning hoping to be able to start after breakfast. She went to wash up and when she came down the apples were chopped up into little pieces and sitting in the compost bin! (I really wish I had a picture. It'd be so tragic.)

My dad figured they had gone bad and weren't edible anymore so he sent them away! Lol My mom was so sad. "Ahhhh!! What did Papa do to my appplllllllles!!!!!?!?!?!?!?" Well she washed them up and since it's all organic stuff in the little compost dish (should have mentioned that our compost goes through 2 bins, one by the sink and one outside).

We had our apple boo berry pie for tea, along with curry puffs (which Bno really liked) and watched Under One Roof (Curry Puff episode coz we thought Brandon would like it)

I made breakfast quesadillas for dinner coz I'd been wanting to allllll day. Mm they weren't that great. Was feeling kinda sick after all the pie, ice cream and puffs.

[My Room, My Mess]

Photobucket

It's pretty darn amazing how I've managed to store all the things I own in my room over the past 6 years [It's been that long!!!!]. My parents were figuring out how to make my room look bigger. My dad thought maybe if we painted a lighter colour, it would light it up. It took me a week before I got everything out. When I finally got down to sorting out random sheets of papers lying around and little figurines here and there and clothes (everywhere), my dad came in and took everything out. [Very stressful weekend] My things crept out from my room towards Joey's, INTO Joey's, to the common space upstairs to my parents' room to the guest room, even downstairs!

After taking everything out of my room, my dad decided that painting wasn't the solution and that I just had to get rid of all the things I've kept locked up in my closet. Lol I have toys from centuries ago. I keep telling myself that one day, I'm gonna have an idea, something's gonna pop up and I'd need whatever it is I have in my boxes.

We got Brandon to come over last weekend to help and he had no idea what to do. And as you can see in the picture, Joey and Brandon found a pack of cards and are playing Crazy 8s.

For two weeks I've been trying to throw things out and put things nicely on my shelves and only just yesterday my mom and I managed to throw something away. The guest room's still in a mess but... I'm working on it! There's just so many things happening all at once!! Jmowz needs to sleep.

[Sudoku Madness]

Photobucket

Sudoku I believe came out a few years ago. Or actually maybe it's been out for a long time but I only learnt about it when Diane played it online. And she's a brainiac so I'd watch her solve these puzzles uber quick. I never really tried one out until Joey got it on the Game Boy SP. My mom played it for a while and brought the SP along with her to Singapore. That's when I played my first game. Haven't successfully completed a puzzle yet though.

Photobucket

My dad got Sudoku for our iMac now and she plays it every evening. For Christmas, my aunt got her a mini sudoku booklet. So one night I went into my parents room and Jo Jo and mom are sitting on the bed. Joey's got Sudoku for the Gameboy and mom's got sudoku in a book.

[01.01.08]

I was so tired last night, bed time was at 7:30. I slept all the way through until 6 o'clock this morning. Pretty impressive. Lol

I got out of my first class about an hour ago. 7 people showed up. I think about 5 more were missing and half our class is made up of Audio students. I love how every teacher in the school is completely different and have completely different job descriptions but at the same time they teach the same types of things. My teacher for Location Audio has done numerous gigs recording audio for tv networks and travelled to far away places and does mainly documentaries now. What he talked about was uber interesting. Another thing I love about college is the teachers are so nice. And they treat you like a person.

I have another half an hour until my next class. Woot editing!

[31.12.07]

"Woooooshhh.."

I started my shift at 6. However to get to school, takes me an hour and a half by bus/train/foot. By car, it takes 15 minutes if there is no traffic.

Photobucket

I spent 8 hours of the day laying pastries, danishes and cupcakes on trays and setting them out for the Winter quarter orientation. Sounds like lots of work walking back and forth and making sure the food and beverages are replenished every hour. I haven't had a taste of work during regular school time yet but as of now, work's pretty fun. Lol. We'll see what happens on Thursday when I work my 9 to 5. I was exhausted by the end of my shift but I must say we did a pretty good job.

Photobucket

2 hour bus ride home in time to get over to Diane's for our New Year Partay. Last year we spent the night at Krissy's playing charades and watching movies. This year it was a New Years(slash)Belated Birthday party for Diane at Diane's. Her mom made Kim Chi rice with Bu-Goh-Gi (I have no idea if that's spelled right or if that's really what it was: Thin fried beef?). There was boiled Bok Choi and chicken, frozen pizza, egg salad sandwiches, pop.

We spent the evening chilling, catching up with old times. I guess this is like the second half to the Christmas Party. We ate and watched Anchorman. Mr Nguyen even dropped by to say hi. It was like the whole crew was back together again. The week I went back to school for the Christmas Event, he had said that the current badminton team isn't the same as before. =) He misses us! He said that the team gets together, plays and leaves after each practice and they don't really hang out. Over the 5 years we were in High school I guess all of us became so close that we're like family now! Lol And the girls have a "Circle of Trust" with him where we just gossip!! Ah~.

Anyway, back to the last day of 07. Troy and Wesley joined us this year. I think I'm slowly breaking out of the being-stuck-between-highschool-and-college shell. After this break, I somehow feel a lot more confident talking to people. It might be just coz of work. *shrugs*

And there I go off topic again. I wasn't able to film a lot of the party coz I rushed out of the house when I got back from work and forgot the camera by the tv. D'oh! And yea. Not much I have to say bout New Year's Eve. It was VERY interesting and hopefully we'll be able to get together every year.

Everyone was wide awake until around 4 in the morning. We had people on the couch. People on the floor. Hogen came by to visit for a little while. By 5, everyone was sound asleep. Next morning all of us drove out for breakfast/lunch at Denny's. Mmmm Mmm good.
