[Here comes the sun]

Photobucket

What did Jmerz do today. She continued her mask making. It takes really long to paper mache everything nicely so I'm glad the sun's out. I can make a whole bunch at once and wait for them to dry in the sun while I paint on another one. So far I've made 2 and a half.

Photobucket

Today's the first day I could go out without even thinking about bringing a jacket "just in case". It's definitely summer temperature now. Finally! It was very very hot. I figured it'd be around 25-27. But when we got to Erma, the sign said 35!!!

Photobucket

Bno and Amy played soccer for a bit in the evening out at Erma.

Photobucket

So my cleaning was unsuccessful today. I managed to clear off the long table in the kitchen of all the mail that had piled up. I moved it to the dining room. I did a crazy wipe down in the kitchen and cleared the living room. I didn't get to vacuum though. Maybe that's what I'll do tomorrow. Well, until then.. Good night!

[Green]

No, I don't have a green thumb. I think my thumb is colourful. I've only recently decided that I wanted to grow things. And I now own 3 plants. I have my baby succulent, my aloe and 2 pots of Shasta daisy seedlings (trying very very hard to grow. I might have killed them. Which is the reason I'm writing this post)

So I'm in charge of pretty much everything at home now. I can wash the dishes very well. I can iron and fold the laundry quite skillfully. I can vaccum and wipe things down and all that stuff.

Photobucket

However, looking after plants is something I have yet to master. It been pretty sunny lately so I figure I should water the plants a little every evening.

Mommy says that if the leaves turn yellow. It means there's too much water. If they turn brown and shrivel, it means they need more water.

Photobucket

When I see that it's really hot out, and the soil is dry at the top, I figure the plant needs water. Well this one plant is turning very yellow! D:

Photobucket

I hope I'm not murdering the plants in the garden. Um... the good news.. the fruits are growing well!!!! Strawberries are turning red!

Photobucket

Booberries are also growing. They have yet to purple-ize though.

Photobucket

Photobucket

At least other things are growing. Like this moss in the fountain. It's actually quite cool looking.

I love this picture. Looks like he's been doing well. He was kinda lost when we brought him back home for a little while. =(

Here's Pepper playing tennis with Brandon and Doug.

Krissy posted this picture up. It's also on her blog. Was taken at Diane's 18th. I don't know. There's something about it that's cool. Maybe it's all of us "thinking" and we look like we're thinking the same thing.

Photobucket

Lisa needed me to help her out with orientation stuff for AI so I got a few hours clocked in doing tons of paper work. I put together a whole bunch of booklets for new students. SO tiring!

Photobucket

On my way back, I met Wesley and Bno for a little while. A bunch of kids were playing soccer out at Erma and asked them to play. So I took a bunch of pictures.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Decided that today I needed some rice. I haven't had rice in over a week so.. I made.. fried rice! It wasn't very good. Coz I put onions in it. Bleh! Next time will be better. Also, I all of a sudden have a craving for oreos. Couple weeks back, I really needed an oreo blizzard. At Pearls, I really wanted a Black Twist (oreo and coffee) which was mmm so good. So today I decided I'd make my own. I put too much sugar. But still good!

[Bowling]

Photobucket

I'm slowly getting back to hanging out with the crew again. Because no one is home, I've been keeping myself busy.

Photobucket

We went bowling last night. 2 lanes.. mm.. 10 of us? 12? 14? It was all you can bowl for 3 hours so I bowled until I couldn't pick the ball up anymore.

Photobucket

Bowled with Diane, Krissy and Alvin first. Then played with Bno, Cam and Cor after. After bowling, all of us headed over to Pearl Fever to chill for a bit before heading home.

Photobucket "Where's the Pearls!!?"

Always good to have friends working at Pearls. Peter made Bno a UFO. We got a cup of water too. SEALED!

[No Rest]

Just like last break, I've had no break. Ok maybe this break's a little better. But because I've been alone at home, things are weird. I've been finding the need to keep myself really really busy to prevent going crazy being alone at home.

I've been editing the FHGrad08 for the past few days and it's taking FOREVER. Over the past couple of quarters, editing short films has become something of more interest than little home videos like Grad and Birthdays. At least there's some sort of structure which means, editing events should be pretty darn easy. But they're so long!

I spent last night finishing up the videos and exporting. Exporting took 3-4 hours.=S And much longer when you figure out it's in the wrong formats or that I forgot to de-interlace in a certain format.

I guess another reason I've been finding editing this grad difficult is coz I'm not as familliar with this group of people as I was with my year. It was a lot more personal editing my grad. This video definitely won't be as -hearty- as last years.

I found me a 2 day part time job working for Ai doing orientation prep. Unfortunately, I have to finish this grad first. Well, time to go back to editing. When I'm done, NAP TIME! And will be going bowling later on today. =) Yay.

[Independence: Day 7]

This is probably been the longest amount of time I've been away from school since October; a week!

I had work today. Was a very quiet day with Malvina and the tech-y guys around AI. Malvina and I cleared out the freezer. Well.. she did most of the work. There was NOTHING to do.

And so yea, I doodled a bunch and talked to people. Hrrrrm. Finally got Herb to print me a staff tag.

Photobucket

It's finally getting warmer. Just wait, it'll probably start snowing after I save this entry. Malvina made little popsicles with pink sobe! Mmmm so good.

Photobucket

There isn't much to say about today. Today was today. So I'll just post pictures!

Photobucket

Played pool at Krissy's with Bno and Wesley and of course Krissy.

[Independence: Day 6]

Photobucket

So step.. 3? Cook even more! I went crazy with the mashed potatoes and chicken that I found in the freezer. Also decided that I needed some veggies so I got cauliflower and realized I got chicken sauce instead of cheese which was fine. It was yum. Mmmmm I could eat this everyday.

Very amazed with myself. =]

[Independence: Day 5]

Brandon wanted to play tennis on Saturday so I went out with him to the courts in the evening. He gets really grumpy at me coz I never run around to get the ball. Then I get grumpy coz he's grumpy. I kept trying to smack the ball back at him as hard as I could so it would make the "pop" sound. I managed to get a couple rallies in there with really nice shots.

Next day (yesterday), we played badminton at Guildford Rec and I just.. completely lost my swing and snap! My shots were so awkward. That made me "rawr!". I kept playing and playing and whacking the bird as hard as I could but it was still weird.

I sat off for a bit and Wilson (one of the coaches) asks me to play (he's old). Couple weeks back, he had asked me to play too. He introduced himself and asked my name. Well yesterday he did the exact same thing. =S Old people.. jeez. Lol.

I played doubles with a buncha adults and finally got my snap back. =). By the end of the day, I was playing singles like back in grade 12 with some old dude. I think I got.. 6-7 points on him which is pretty good. I had one crazy rally where I was just running everywhere. Quite amazed with myself.

Today.... I am sore.... all over.. D=. I'm gonna try to start competing in badminton again. Julian wants to play mix next season so that should be something to look forward to. Hopefully it won't mess with my schedule.

[Under the Big Top]

Photobucket

Been excited for Corteo from the day I found out it was coming to Vancouver til seconds before the show began and was still excited about it when I got home. =) Makes me happy all over.

Photobucket

Bno, Troy and I trained down to Main St and as we walked along the bay, I felt my insides getting all.. )#(&$!)&@# =). The second the Big Tops could be seen, I was going nutz. The boys wanted food though so we ended up walking away from the tents ( D: ) and towards Costco for food. I kept pestering Brandon.

"We can't be late! They won't let us in!"

Photobucket

The photographers lined the entrance to the tents. In my mind I was thinking, dude! I was supposed to have this job! It's a pretty nice picture. The umbrella's CRAZY. I love it. I wanted to get one.

Photobucket

The set wasn't too large. I suppose it'd be pretty tough to get a huge stage out since it is a traveling show.

Photobucket

They had some pretty crazy stunts. I kept thinking back to when we saw "O" last summer, and comparing stunts and stuff. But when I think about it, they're all pretty darn crazy. This one I could feel like it was more of a theatrical production since it was smaller. "O" was more eye candy.

Photobucket

Bno and I have decided that we wanna go to Bard on the Beach this summer too. For months, he's been making fun of the circus and constantly joking around about it. Lol Made me so angry! But he enjoyed Cirque so Jmerz was happy. =)

Photobucket

I know I've been spending lots of money. More than I should really. We'll just say this is my birthday present to myself. =)

[Independence: Day 2]

Photobucket

Diane wanted to go to Metrotown today to buy her birthday present. Yea, her birthday was a few months ago. But hey hey, everyone needs their presents! She, Bno, Sylvia and I went down there to walk the mall. Feels so strange going down to Metro when I'm there pretty much every single day. It's like another school day or something. I'm so used to popping in there to pick up something quick that it's become just another mall.

Photobucket

So anyways after walking the mall for a few hours, all of us started getting tired and grumpy so we headed back home to play Wii Tennis.

I was supposed to edit the grad video with Waina but she wanted to play badminton. I'm not even done capturing the 6 tapes of footage we have. I've gone through about... hmm 3 so far. Eesh. Gonna be a long weekend of editing. Yay me.

Well, tomorrow's Cirque day. Yay!!!!!!!!!! I'm uber excited!!!! =) Until tomorrow!

Jmerz out.

[Independence: Day 1]

Step 1 - Entire family must be out of the house

So day 1 wasn't too bad. I managed to get everything done. Well...almost. I got 2 loads of laundry done. I did 2 baskets of ironing. I made my own dinner (scalloped potatoes mmmmm yumm) and dessert (honey dew sago mmmm yummm).

Ok. The house is pretty darn quiet. I think if Pepper was here, it'd be a little less quiet even though he's miserable and doesn't make much noise when everyone's gone. Must suck to be him whenever we go out or away for a long time. Hopefully he's happy over in "Korea".

Step 2 - Go grocery shopping. Coz that's what Mommy does.

I went out to get some fruit. Was kinda awkward carrying 2 melons and a bag of grapes home. I sliced up the honey dew and realized that Mommy usually buys groceries and waits for the fruits to ripen before she makes anything with them. Yea... I like crunchy.... honey dew.. in my sago.. hehe.

Photobucket

The scalloped potatoes were a little under cooked but I managed.

Doesn't really seem like I did very much. Oh! I watched The Spiderwick Chronicles. That was good. Hmm.. Yea.. doesn't seem like I did very much.

[My new Aloe Vera plant]

Photobucket

Jme: It's huge. It's so heavy. How'd he bring it here??
Mommy: I have no idea
Papa: How'd he bring it here?
Mommy: I don't know!!
Jme: It's so.... ugly!
Mommy: I know!!
Jme: But I love it!!

I still love the Succulent Joey got meeeee~. So today. I went out to drop off my library books at school. I just HAD to forget them. It was good. I got out of the house and managed to get some shopping done. Bno messaged me and said he got me something cool and that he'd drop it off at my place. So after I did my shopping, I headed back to FH then back home.

My parents have been frantically packing their things together. I feel the rush now.

So I ran to the kitchen real quick and ran out and spotted a big tentacl-y looking thing in a pot sitting on the family room coffee table. My aloe vera plant! I thought my mom found it when she went to Superstore so I was happy =). Then I realized that Brandon was the one who actually got it for me. =D. It's so creepy looking. But I love it! It's huge! I was picturing something small, yno, in a little pot maybe like my succulent. But this thing is massive!

I called Bno up to thank him and he said, "I didn't just get you AN aloe vera plant, I got you 4!" Yea there were 4 plants in one pot. Crazy.

Jme: How'd you carry it here?
Bno: I took the bus
Jme: But it's so heavy!
Bno: I went to every store in Guildford and none of them had an aloe vera plant cept one. When I looked at it I was like.. why on EARTH does Jamie want this thing. It's so ugly.
Jme: But I love it!

[Jessica and Emma...stop by?]

Photobucket

Well that's basically what they did. It was Jessica's birthday and both of them were UBER wasted. They came by and said they loved us so much. Gave us tons of hugs and kisses and shared more that we wanted them to share. Lol Brandon and I are both glad that we're loved. Or else they might've really strangled us.

[3rd Quarter down]

Photobucket

I remember finishing first quarter and still feeling like nothing had been done. Second quarter crept up and whipped me in the face and I started actually being a film student; surviving on vending machine/microwavable dinners, staying up all night to finish a final. And now third quarter:

Well for one. I just had to get sick 2 days before the term ended. I had to finish my final on Sunday and I was just feeling horrible. Usually I'm able to keep myself up and keep on working no matter what. Not on Sunday. I ended up working for a couple hours then Derek sent me home to sleep while he finished it off.

Anthony really liked our short film. I was kinda worried that he wouldn't like it or get it. He said it's very visually stimulating and I'm pretty sure a lot more work could have gone into it. It's not what I pictured it. Maybe one day I can re-shoot. Lol It's probably just me that doesn't like it. Everyone else really liked it.

So since I'm officially legal drinking age, our group wanted me to go down with them to have a drink! Lol We drove downtown to Kitsilano Beach to a restaurant right by the water, Malones. James bought me a Vodka Cran Soda which tasted pretty nasty. I don't know why he got me that. Tany ended up trading drinks with me. She gave me her Long Island Iced Tea instead. That tasted a lot better. Lol I don't like the taste of alcohol. I don't understand how people can say "It tastes like juice". It doesn't!!!

[Country Fair 08]

Photobucket

Maybe we're all grown up and the fair just isn't as -cool- as it was before. I love fairs. I love being where there are lots of people and everyone's just having a good time and we bump into so many people. (Everyone expected me to have a video camera at hand which really bugged me that day)

Photobucket

Kat came down to visit! I haven't seen her in ages!! So that was nice. Brandon had planned to play tennis and then play soccer. So.. we hung out at the tennis courts for a while and he went off to Guildford rec to play soccer. I hung around with Kat, Simran and Raman for a bit. Talked to a whole bunch of people I haven't seen in forever which was really nice. Kat really really wanted a picture with the firetruck and I was the only one who would. So.. voila! Jmerz + firetruck!

Photobucket

We partied all the way until midnight. Chilled at Peter's house and played Wii badminton. Wooohoo. I knew they would make a game! I believe a few years ago, I wished that one of the gaming companies make a virtual badminton game and they did!!!

I know the excitement for the fair has faded away but it's still great to meet up with old friends.

[Fatality at Metrotown]

Photobucket

I still have no idea what happened at Metrotown Station a few days ago. I had to write my final for Sound Design and somebody just had to go and get killed or kill themselves or go stab someone. Seems like something we all have to live with now. Why are people so crazy.

Well traffic was backed up. Columbia station was PACKED. I had to take the millenium line. Surprisingly, once I got on the train, things went pretty smoothly.

[Safety Shoot]

Photobucket
Tany and James trying to get to the circuit breaker. The lights blew.

As I was unable to be at Day 1 of Safety, I agreed to do the cover and behind the scenes for James' final project on the 2nd day. I did all the stills and was a P.A on set which was pretty exciting. Finally a group that is professional with their shoot. Very fun to work with.

Photobucket
There was a church function going on and these kids were all so intrigued by the lights and gear that were set up in the gym. We had to kick them out coz they were just everywhere and basketballs bouncing around the lights just wasn't very safe.

They had a couple professional actors as well as a friend of James' who I found out played badminton as well. Or well, used to.

Photobucket
Tany and I made a few trips out to get make up as well as out to Marine Drive to pick up an actor. His house... was so.. nice.

We shot at Fraser Valley Christian Secondary alllll day. The shoot went from noon all the way til wrap up at 11pm.

[Graduation #2]

Jmerz: This is my second grad!!!
Ms Macrae: Hah! This is my 25th!

Photobucket

No, I was not satisfied with my grad so I had to go back again this year. =P The PAC really liked what I did for the grad DVD for my year and so they were happy that I was back again this year to film it again.

Waina and I worked together with another Grade 10 guy to shoot the Grads of 08. Technically this is my first year filming the grad since I was a part of it last year. I think we got some nice footage and Waina's a lot more experienced now as am I so I think it'll be pretty sweet. We had a lot of trouble working with the other guy as he was...well a Grade 10 guy. A nice boy but so immature. Lol Waina got quite frustrated.

I made a couple new friends which was pretty cool and the grads this year a much much more into the dancing unlike our year. Made me happy to watch them. =)

I watched the Hypnotist act again and then really had to go home to sleep. I got into bed at 4am I believe and was out the next morning to help James shoot his final project. It's gonna look so sweet.

[Jmerz Adventures]

So as busy as I am with my school work and life in general, I've been out job hunting for quite a while now. Ever since my hours were cut at the cafe, I figured I wanted to do odd jobs here and there for now since it's the only thing I CAN do with school and all going on. Just things to get me by.

I applied for positions for Cirque for the summer however due to my busy schedule, they rejected my application. I went in search of other positions with a different company also working for Cirque and found myself a Photographer's position. So this interview just had to take place some place far far away from home, downtown Vancouver at the Aquarium (for some odd reason). The photo company probably also works for the Aquarium is what I figured.

So here I am, on my way down town in the morning for this interview. I'm so glad I started my trip early. I trained it down to Metrotown as there is a bus that goes straight to Stanley park from there. When I got there, the bus driver told me that that his bus wasn't running all the way to Stanley park that day. Rawr!!!! The triathlon was going on and so roads getting in there were all closed!!! Feel the rage. I got on anyway and he gave me directions. I couldn't really understand them but I put the street names together and hoped to find it. The bus ride was about 45 minutes long. I went down streets I'd never been down before, saw stores and places that I didn't know were situated there which was cool. I found out that the 24 newspaper agency is on Kingsway which was cool.

Photobucket
Gorgeous day out at the park

I sat and sat and as we got closer and closer downtown, I started to get worried so I asked around. The lady next to me wasn't sure how to get there so she gave me rough directions and mentioned going for a walk down the park as it was a pretty day. It was.. but I had no time to go for a nice stroll in the park!!!! As the bus reached China town, I realized that many people on there were also heading down to the park. We formed a huge group and made it down there. Lol so now I know how to get to Stanley Park by bus.

Photobucket
My new friend!

Once I got there, I was lost AGAIN. The maps weren't helping very much. I did much walking back and forth around the Rowing Club. I stood by the map for a good 10 minutes trying to figure it out. Another guy was also lost, also staring at this map that made no sense. We ended up talking and trying to figure it out together and then ended up making friends. Lol So I made a friend down there. He's an international engineering student here on internship at SFU Surrey. Pretty cool. He couldn't speak english properly but nice guy. He had his little tourist hat on which was cute and posed for a picture outside the Aquarium (when we finally found it). Exchanged emails and he went on his way around the park and me for my interview.

I had to sit and wait for a bit as the head of office hadn't arrived yet. It was nice being in there. Really made me want to go on vacation or work in a park or Aquarium or Zoo. Reminded me about how I wanted to do that kind of thing as a kid, work with animals and stuff. I think I need to surround myself with more of that.

My interview went pretty smoothly. Hopefully I will be contacted for the job and my schedule doesn't get in the way. Working for Cirque would be very very awesome. But I guess I need an actual break over the break. I don't think I've stopped since Winter break. Things have just been constantly moving and I've constantly been on the go for the past 5 months. It's nutz!

Anyhoo. I get out of my interview and I'm walking out to find my way home and the weirdest thing happens. I'm walking and all of a sudden this big heavy prickly thing WHACKS me in the head from behind and swoops off. =S! James says the crow thought my head was its nest. Lol. Whatta joker. Yea it was the strangest thing ever. It didn't really attack me. And I'm pretty sure it knew where it was going coz he flew off perfectly fine after. Maybe crows have bad flying days too. I never knew they were such big heavy things... until it hit me.

Getting home was much easier then getting out there. I'm quite proud of myself getting there and back in one piece. =P I was off to grad shortly after arriving home.

[Almost Aloe]

Photobucket

For a very long time I've been wanting an aloe vera plant to keep in my room. I decided that I needed some -life- around me while I work. I obviously have no time to keep a pet and we do have Pepper around the house. So I decided that I wanted a plant instead. I got daisy seeds and planted them outside however due to my busy schedule, I have been neglecting them. Luckily the weather is cool and rainy out so I think they'll be fine, unless it's too cold. The weather's been wacky. I think Friday was recorded the coldest day since 1954.

Photobucket

So for my birthday, Joey wanted to get me my aloe plant. She couldn't find one so she got me a Succulent instead. It's a cute plant! I love it! I'm gonna call him "Bud"

[I.AM.CANADIAN]

Well not yet. I took my test a couple days ago though. I don't know how I managed. I wasn't worried. Probably because I have so many other things to worry about. Yeesh. My dad on the other hand knows EVERYTHING about Canada now coz he's been up early in the morning studying everyday. Both my parents were so nervous and constantly nagging at me to study. I did the practice test online a couple times and scanned through the book a couple.

The test was 20 questions long. We spent more time standing outside in a line up as if we were gonna be shot to death execution style, getting our paperwork done, sitting and waiting for everyone else to be seated, and listening to the guy take FOREVER to explain how to fill out a scantron. Yes it's important stuff. My god I was so bored. I finished the test in 5 minutes. The waiting was about an hour. I got so bored I started doodling on my green sheet. Hopefully nothing goes wrong. I didn't think that sheet was very important. It hit me afterwards that they might accuse me of cheating if they see my drawings. I swear I was bored and needed to do something!! I wrote a list of all the countries I wanted to visit. lol. Not bomb!

I met Bno after since I was at Surrey Central. He brought me flowers. Handpicked from his garden =)

Bno discovered a huge area with TONS of buttercups. If they were bigger, the entire path would be yellow. =)

[End of Quarter Stress!]

"You guys are lucky I promised not to whack anyone with the boom pole"

If I haven't already mentioned that things are hectic at this time of the quarter, well then.... I'm mentioning it now! Things are crazy! My schedule is packed with loads of fun stuff back to back. I don't think I even have time to just sit and take a breather. Well I guess that's right now. I guess since school is fun, my regular fun stuff like blogging becomes sort of like work? It's all even I guess? There is no, "ugh school" or "yay fun". It's all the same!

I love this picture. It's gonna go on the DVD menu.

I was really looking forward to directing this next project. It's I think.. the second script I've directed. The first didn't really count since it was just a silly little editing project. I believe it's the Sandwich video. No not the Ninja one, although I did put lots of time into editing that assignment. Been talking to Vincent; trying to convince him to make the sequel to Death of a Ninja.

Anyways, this latest assignment was inspired by.. well my life really. We'll see how it turns out. This is the first time I've had a very good perspective of it in my head. I see it playing over and over. Not satisfied with what we shot today coz it isn't what I pictured. But I guess I'll just have to work with that. Acting wise, it was alright. Also wasn't what I had in mind but still good.

Planning this entire shoot was h-e-l-l! Since we are working within a very tight time slot, auditions were going to be too troublesome. Hopefully next quarter, I'll be able to run some auditions for projects. So I resorted to friends and friends of friends who go to acting school. Well.. that didn't work out. People and their schedules and work. Eesh. I guess that's one good reason to go out and get professional actors. Friends and friends of friends don't seem to understand what goes into production of a film and that it gets very frustrating when things don't work out as planned. So anyway, no names listed. Things just started falling apart as I got to school to pick up the camera and gear. People not able to make it. People not calling me. People still at home sleeping when they said they'd be there. People canceling on me and not calling back.

In the end, Grace agreed to be my actress. It was her first time acting and I must say she did quite a good job for never having acted before. Again, not how I had pictured it. I guess I'll have to work some magic in the editing suite.

Jmerz leap of death across little river holding boom pole and mic! Probably not very wise but a film maker's gotta do what a film maker's gotta do!

We shot the main dialogue sequence at Ashley's house along with some "happy moment" shots which was all we had time for really because we had wasted time getting gear. Chris in the cage had lots of people picking up gear and returning so we had to wait. He's really nice about it though. Cool guy. Love his British accent.

Photobucket We ended up chilling at the park for a bit. Crazy country people throwing rocks at random objects. Lol ended up joining in

Over all it was a pretty good day. I got lots of footage which I have yet to capture and have to go back in the morning to do so. And we will be filming the second half of it tomorrow. Gonna go skytrain hopping and hopefully not bump into any police on the way. =S Everyone's warning me about it so maybe I should be worried?
