[Recycling Game]

While having lunch at the food court today, I noticed people pausing at the garbage bins. When they first came out with those wacky bins, I paused too. I still have to take a moment to think about which garbage goes where and which is recycling. You would think that something like this would be pretty straight forward. Garbage goes in the garbage..... and pop cans go in recycling! But they added a 3rd bin!!! ORGANICS! I guess I have to clean my plate before dumping it in the garbage....

Random guy and his buddy: This is like a game.....

[Londsdale Quay]

Ty and I decided to go to Londsdale Quay this weekend as the weather is starting to warm up and we've been long due for an exploring day. :) This was my first trip on the Seabus and it was fun! The little ferry looks just like a bus! But.... on water! :D The ride was about 5 minutes long and when you get off it's like you're in a whole new world! A much nicer world where there's music, food and friendly tourists!

Ty and I wandered around the market place which is very similar to Granville Island however not as busy I suppose. It almost feels as if we were on another island.

If you knew me, you would know that I have a few obsessions:

1. I am obsessed with bags
2. I am obsessed with shoes
3. I am obsessed with HATS

When I saw this hat, I fell in love immediately! I suppose I fell for this hat long ago when I first saw someone wearing it up on a ski hill. But I found one finally!

We stopped for fish and chips (the only fish I will eat) then found a nice park beside the quay to people watch and take photos :)

On the other end of Londsdale is a neat spot for taking photos. The entire "park" was built to kinda look like a shipyard which was what it was back in World War II.

Benches looked like they were supported by those U Clamps. Make shift cranes made for monuments. Walk out decks that you could stroll down and chill on and look out to the city.

I thought it was quite neat. This location is going on my list for Engagements and Weddings. :) Well Ty and I had lots of fun. We're gonna have to think of another better place next time we explore!

[Anti Luck]

Roll Up the Rim to Win. Rim and Win don't rhyme and it's more like Roll Up the Rim to FAIL! I've gotten coffees all winter long and only won 1! And no it wasn't a car!

My luck hasn't been so great lately. It seems it's not even bad luck... it's no luck! The past few months have had me a series of misfortunes: Parking tickets, lost cheques, stolen phone, lack of time.

I usually put my thoughts and feelings towards thinking that perhaps my misfortunes are such because I haven't done my best to keep myself from falling into unfortunate circumstances. What goes around comes around. If I was rude to someone on the train perhaps in the near future someone will do that to me too. I figure I deserve whatever comes my way and it is a message from that higher power or spirit or earthly movements.

Hopefully something good will come my way and the rest of 2011 will get better!

GEMINI - The Twin (May 21 to June 20)

Nice. Love is one of a kind. Great listeners. Very good at confusing people. Lover not a fighter, but will still knock you out. Geminis will not take any crap from anyone. Geminis like to tell people what they should do and get offended easily. They are great at losing things and are forgetful. Geminis can be very sarcastic and childish at times and are very nosey. Trustworthy. Always happy. VERY Loud. Talkative. Outgoing. VERY FORGIVING. Loves to make out. Has a beautiful smile. Generous. Strong.

March 21, 2011

When one gets pressured with numerous tasks, sometimes multi tasking skills reach a point where the human mind gets so stressed out, it can't deal with it.

In the last few months I've been learning lots to do with interacting with people, communicating ideas and information.

One skill I have yet to grasp is learning to pick the best and let go of the less perfect (when it comes to picking my shots that is). Hundreds and thousands of shots come back for post and they have to go through so many levels of inspection to find the 60 that are the best. I have always had a personality such that I can't let go of things that have no use to me. I've been taught not to waste anything and so when an item comes into a picture that has value although of none to me, I keep it anyway. In my mind I think... well.. I might find use for it someday.......someday..... I'm sure I've gotten better at being able to throw things out or give them away. I think at one point I lived the life of a squirrel, storing things in my closet for the winter.

Well... like with the many tasks... I have many shots screaming at me asking me to pick them!!

[Pass times]

If he could, Joseph would take a photo of every single image on Google Images. One day he asked if I could print out all 35,000 hits. I stared at him wide eyed and shook my head slowly.....He's recently discovered that he can use the movie mode on his camera to capture a video off of Youtube! We don't really provide a DVD burning service that allows him to playback the videos on a DVD player though.... so I've had to insert his videos into templates at home myself...

[Celtic Festival]

Sunday was a gorgeous day. It was sunny but crisp. The day was pleasant. There weren't too many commuters. The celtic parade and festival was on. I WAS AT WORK! :(

On my break, I took a walk through some of the stands to see what there was. This stand was my favourite. Irish Wolfhounds! :) They're so pretty!

[St Patty's 2011]

I think I have a growing love for dresses. Zomg!

We celebrated St Patty's at The Foggy Dews on Thursday. Great atmosphere. Great food. Great service. :) It was a much too drunked night for me (everyone else was drunk).

It was definitely a night to remember though :)

[New Blog in the Works]

It's kinda odd having 2 blogs. I can't give this one up entirely as I blog about everything as well as work. My new website is on it's way to being fully functional though! Will be posting more photos soon!

Moo Moo and Choux Choux have been spoiled. I feed them lots of yummy seeds that they store the pellets in a pile of bedding under one of their log arches (which I find when I clean their tank). For a while, I ran out of seeds! I rationed out the last few portions then they went about 5 days without nommy snacks!! Prob good that they go on a diet. I'm trying to cut down coz Choux Choux is so fat! Moo Moo is big but not obese like Choux Choux is!

[A Whole New Camera]

My Canon E1 strap which I ordered arrived last week and so I quickly strapped it on. Unfortunately with the E1, I have to attach the battery grip to the camera in order for it to work. It definitely looks like a whole new camera. I've tried it with my 30mm and 50mm however not so much a zoom lens just yet. Gulp! It's so heavy...but oh so nice!! :)

[New Look]

I haven't really been posting about all the changes and progress I've been making to my advertising. It's been a long and confusing but exciting last few months as I've been slowly figuring out and setting up Jamie Poh Photography.

I've gotten all the paperwork and legal stuff sorted out and it's just got to come together slowly like a puzzle! The website is up and running however I still am in the process of tweaking a lot of stuff.

Last week I picked up my new cards... all 1000 of them. :D!!!! Not gonna run out for years! Once I get my website finalized, I will be in business!!

[My First Guinness]

Went out to The Eatery over the weekend for staff dinner. I've heard lots of people rave about this place but the second they say SUSHI, I cringe. For some reason SUSHI is the HIP thing to eat nowadays. And Jamie just does not like sushi.

The place was far out away from the main downtown area. It was super dark but packed full of people. After sitting in there for about 5 minutes and your eyes are well adjusted to the darkness, you start to notice big paper mache sculptures above you attached to the ceiling. The lights and photo frames all say sushi on them. There's a row of lava lamps on the back bar. The place definitely smells like sushi.

The menu is a colourful picture book that you could stare at all night. At the back there's a list of cool T shirts and underwear you can purchase from their store! :) Their slogan is "The Funkiest place for Japanese food".

I was still a bit hesitant about the food there while sitting at the table. I got a tofu donburi and a Guinness. I've never had Guinness and it just looks kinda gross in videos... all black and stuff. People describe it to be slightly bitter and creamily thick. In my mind, I picture bitter milkshake. When we got our glasses, I tipped mine and carefully poured the beer into it but as soon as I did, I got yelled at by everyone at the table "JAMIE NO! POUR IT! GO GO GO GO GO!!! YOU HAVE TO POUR IT FAST!!!" Gah!!!!! No one told me this before! I learned in bartending class to pour beers as smoothly as possible and here I am dumping this Guinness into my glass like I was desperate to drink it right away! And after all that, they told me to wait........ so I sat watching my glass as the bubbles foamed nicely at the top. :) It was a good beer. Not bitter at all. Very smooth. No bubbles...kinda like a flat beer... but cold! :P

Our food came and the tofu donburi was exceeeellent. :) I give The Eatery 2 thumbs up.

I've never had anything get stolen from me before. If I ever lost anything, it would have been my own fault misplacing or dropping something. I guess in a way this is still my own fault as I left my phone on the counter top where someone just conveniently snagged it.

When I got the phone (through work), I'd told myself that I wouldn't get used to it. I would not put all my addresses on it or use the calendar. I would still use a printed calendar and notebook to write my notes. After time, I grew to like using the checklist on the android. I liked being able to write what I needed to do or what I wanted on there and to be able to tap it to check it off. I liked being able to Shazam a song and send myself the link so I could download it. I loved the 5MP camera on it that was super fast for times when I didn't want to lug around my cameras. The phone became my life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Accessing the internet was just so much easier.

Alas...... Last week on a slow any other day, I had left my phone on the counter at work for 2 seconds. It got busy quickly and the next thing I know, I can't find it... anywhere. All of us at the store thought back to when it got busy and about who was in the store and we narrowed it down to 2 individuals, one of which was sitting at the photo printing kiosks and the other standing looking at bags. The guy at the kiosks never got anything printed (I would have known), there was no order slip for him. I helped out the girl at the bags and partway through selecting a bag, she noticed the guy had gone. She too sped off and never came back.

Of all the things in a store to steal, they stole my phone. It's been a sad sad week. My luck at that point seemed to keep going down hill. Everyone would tell me that it was my fault and I wouldn't stop hearing about it days after. Trying to get the phone company to help me was a pain. The work program told me to contact the general client care service while they too told me to contact my work program. I was being tossed around between 2 departments FROM THE SAME COMPANY.

I finally got things sorted out and maybe my luck has turned around slightly. I won a coffee at Roll up the Rim..... 10 coffees later but I won! I got a new crappy phone which holds my work number now. It's the worst phone in the world... but I guess that's comparing it to the phone I had previously.

A.Manager: Jamie! You're lucky to even have a phone! Think of all the people who don't have phones!

Oh technology has taken over me and there's no turning back...really.. Prior to getting my HTC Desire, I would have thought otherwise. But that's simply because I didn't own a smart phone myself. I didn't know what I could actually do with it and that accessing the interwebs was just as easy as at home.

Well.... couple more months then maybe I can get myself a new phone..... By the end of the year my contract should be close enough to ending and I should be able to get an even better phone! I will wait patiently til then I guess...

[The Cave]

Lots of radio stations play the usual songs. Stations like Virgin Radio (formerly z95.3) or The Beat play lots of hip hop, rap, pop, rock....Every now and then you'll get a pretty good song. Maybe the bubble pop I grew up with was thought of as crap by people in the generation above me as well?

Anyway, we've been listening to The Peak (100.5) lately at work and the song selection on there is much much better. There's a good mix of old rock, indie pop and alternative. That's where I found this song! The Cave by Mumford & Sons :)

[Circus in an Arena]

Shortly after christmas, I noticed ads up on the skytrain platforms for Cirque Du Soleil's, Quidam! It didn't really click in my head til I received an email for a Valentines special. Just in time too! It was a Buy One Get One 50% off which worked out to be a great deal for Ty and I to go. :)

Because Quidam is such an old production, they played at Roger's Arena instead of the whole tent set up.

My plan to see all their shows is on it's way. I have now seen 4 different productions! "O", "Corteo", "Kooza" and "Quidam"! :)

[Spaghetti Goodness]

For as little as $11, one can get:

- A plate of spaghetti
- A soup or salad
- Fresh bread
- Water
- Coffee or Tea
- Spumoni ice cream

Isn't that just a killer deal!?!?!? The lasagna is way better at the Spaghetti Factory though. :)

Me: Hey look what I found!!!
Manager: Awww! The poor queen!
Me: Isn't that funny!!!!!
Manager: No!
Me: Should I put this in the cash out and leave the nice 20?
Manager: YES! Get rid of that one!
